I've done it with multiple cars. Not scalding, but just warm.

I have heard that it can strip wax, but again I don't go too hot.

if you can get an ungloved hand in the water without burning it the temperature should be OK to wash a vehicle..............

Although I would not use water near the hot range on an otherwise very cold surface of a Corvette. I don't know if it would crack the paint or the composite but I would not want to be the one to find out.

I have not heard of any formal actual positive results from using hot or warm water over cool water. What I can offer is in South Florida our water is always warm. I supposed its about personal comfort mostly .... as with anything, handle with care.

Comfort is the reason I wash with warm water in the winter time. Helps my hands not get so cold.

Up here in Washington, during the winter, sometimes we'll have stretches of very dry, but cold weather. When possible I'll use Poorboys Spray and Wipe in a garage with a space heater on, but that's not always possible or a good idea depending on how dirty the car is.

Thanks for the input. I do like the idea of hot water stripping off wax though. I think I'll use warm water next time.

I wash my C7 with very warm (as hot as it'll come out of the tap) water in the winter. If I don't the water is too cold on my hands. I have Raynaud's Syndrome (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-c...n/CON-20022916) and I cannot allow my fingers to get chilled. The result of chilled hands is extreme pain.

So, very hot water it is. In the summer I use bucket and hose temp water which is quite cool. I wax the car everytime I wash it with Meguiar's tub style wax.

I've never noticed the wax stripping with either hot or cold water. I suspect that if the water is hot, but not so hot you cannot hold your hand it in, it would be fine!

Hot is a relative term. The surface of your car gets far hotter than water you can safely submerge your hand in.

"Even though a water temperature of 110° F is ‘relatively-safe’, exposure can be painful; the human pain threshold is around 106-108° F." quoted on http://www.1800anytyme.com/blog/how-...is-too-hot/27/

I use warm water year around and when its cold outside I wear elbow length gloves I got at Northern Tool.

When I was a kid my neighbors dad used boiling water to de-ice his 1956 Pontiac's windshield one cold morning. It cracked like a smashed egg!

I'm also in Washington and hand wash my car in cold temperatures. Your hand will freeze for a minute but will adjust quickly and be fine. It'll make you tough!
I did use this drive through brushless wash recently (Karmichael's) that sprays the underside of the car. I use it to rinse any salt that may have got under the car. It's a piece of mind. My car was clean too, it worked well. Even the wheel wells were cleaned good.
As for your question, I'm sure you'd be fine with some warm water. Give those hands some comfort!
Let us know how it works
