Default Restoring stainless steel trim

I posted on the C3 forum and learned that the trim on my convertible is a combination of chrome plated pot metal (corner piece) and flash chromed stainless steel (everywhere else/most of the trim). As you can see from the pics they have seen slot of wear in the last 43 years. Removing trim from a C3 can be major surgery including removing the windshield to get it all out.
Looking for recommendations on how to get this trim looking better- especially the stainless.

Can't say as any pics showed up. Chrome on metal alone would need to be smoothed and re-chromed. All stainless has chrome in it( hence stainless) at that point its either ferritic or non ferritic depending on how much chromium is added. I've only used metal polish on SS so I hope others can assist you

Thanks. I added pics now so easier to see. I'm thinking of trying a buffer with mothers mag cleaner and hoping that might help. Don't have much hole for scratch removal the way but better than what it looks like now

I don't now your skill set so it's hard to say,but I'd use a buffing wheel and jeweler's rogue on that.. Any scratches can be remove by sanding out. I would would progressive grits to lessen the sanding scratches. with each less aggressive grit I would increase the area sanded to reduce "gouging" form sanding too much in one area.

I sanded & machine polished my 69 SS Chevelle stainless trim just yesterday.
I started with 400,600,800,1000,then 1500 grit wet sand paper.
Then I polished with our Swirl Killer mini and our blue MF pad along with our Heavy Correcting Compound. I must say it turned out pretty good.

I wanted to circle back around on this thread. I took the advice to sand and polish the stainless trim around my windshield (after taping off the surrounding paint and vinyl) using the increasing grades of sandpaper mentioned here. I don't have a machine polisher but I used a megs ball in a drill with mothers polish. I was afraid to use the sandpaper on the chrome plated corner pieces since they aren't stainless steel. All in all it's not perfect but 100 times better than before and I'm pretty happy with it. And since it was 70!degrees here in Indiana I had to get outside and give this a go. Thanks again.
