I have two pressure washers--one gas, the other electric. The gas-powered washer, I think, makes too much pressure to be used on a car--3500 psi. The electric one is a 1700 psi. This seems to be more practical for auto use and far less likely to cause damage than the high-pressure gas model.

I have an electric pressure washer rated at 1700 psi. The mist mode is fine but not when I switch to other mode which is pretty much useless.

My electric one is from Home Depot and is their top-of-the-line. It seems to do a good job.

I think my electric pressure washer just needs better nozzles. I'll go to home depot tomorrow. Thanks

When I was looking for a pressure washer I wanted something that won't hurt the cars paint or finish but could still clean a house or driveway. I've used electric ones before and for cleaning concrete it took forever and didn't do that good. I ended up buying a Generac 6602 after reading several articles and reviews. It has an adjustable psi from 2000-3100. Works great for the cars, I use the Adams foam cannon.

I have a good Honda 3600psi for normal use, but purchased a cheap electric at HF - it has the foam at the end - work great - slight wash then foam

I have to say it's a lot more fun to wash the vehicles now. I washed all 3 this weekend and a buddy used it on his camaro.

How does the 'car' dial setting compare to your electric? does it still have enough power to fully clean the paint at that pressure?

yes it's plenty on the lowest setting. The only time I've turned it up was when I was blasting rubber out of the wheel well from the track. I don't own an electric but I've used them this was way better. No power cords a lot more pressure.
