Does C3 CE have Clear Coat? -Want to Zaino
Hello folks, first of all thank you to all who contribute the great information here!
I have a 1982 C3 Collector Edition. I want to do the clay-bar decontamination, and then apply the several steps that Zaino advises.
One question: Zaino has two different polishes, one for clear-coat, and one for non clear-coat paint finishes. I use the Zaino Z-2 on my BMW, but I know that has a clear-coat. They make the Z-3 for non clear-coat.
To me, it does NOT look like the CE has a clear coat, but does anyone here have a definitive answer as to whether it does or not? There is no clear answer or info in the owner's manual.
The paint is pretty perfect, but as I run my dry hand over the paint, it seems a little "rough", thus the clay bar etc., routine.
I want to make sure I apply the correct polish to my paint!
She looks pretty good, only has 9,760 miles on her right now. I rescued her from non-use with 3,340 miles in October of 2015, changed everything rubber everywhere, all fluids, some NOS CE Wheels, new antenna, and some other stuff, and now she runs like a dream. Took her to Tulsa in spring of 2016, and then to Estes Park, Colorado in fall of 2016.
Thank You in advance-

Mid way through 1981 the Corvette Assembly Plant migrated from St Louis to Bowling Green. The paint process changed from lacquer to an Enamel base coat/clear coat process at the Bowling Green facility. Your 82 CE was a base coat/clear coat when new.
You can use the same Zaino products on your 82 that you use on your BMW. You might like the Zaino Clear Sealant topped with Z8 Grand Finale. Gives a nice wet look.
Nice, low mileage Collector's Edition
