Re: wash mitt vs. cotton towel (NEZO6)
I prefer a cotton towel. When I finish a washing a panel I fold to a new section. Also I only glide the towel over the surface when I am washing. If there is something that I can't get when I just glide the towel over it then I spot clean it with a product that is designed to remove it.

Simple question. I just bought a black '01 ZO6. To wash the car should I use a high quality (?) wash mitt or cotton towel?

I use a cotton towel now because I know it is debris-free after I wash it and seal it away for later use.
I used a wash mit previously and it got contaminated putting a nice big scratch on one of my quarterpanels. The area had to be wet sanded in order to remove the scratch.
It you ever want to make yourself sick, watch both processes of putting the scratch in the paint and then watching someone take it out of your prized possession. :U

I didn't make it to Rush Street last year as I'm usually busy on Wednesday nights. I hope to make it to a couple this year.

I use a mitt, make a pass on the panel, flip it over, and make another pass-and than hose all of the grit (visible or not) out of both sides of the mitt before dipping it back in the soap bucket for the next section.
As I wanted to upgrade my mit, I purchased some "Special" 100% custom cotton fieldcrest towel mitts from a distributor here, and noticed that it would pick up grit, and it would not wash out of it  it instead clung voraciously to the mit's nap-despite the force of the spray.
I will be going to Napa for their mits...

Dave, make sure you get the 100% cotton mitts, they sell 100% cotton and a synthetic blend, they both look the same but the 100% cotton mitts will say 100% cotton on the package.

It's kinda funny to watch people's faces when I take sandpaper to their cars. I always make sure they are up on their heart medication. :D
