Default Cleaning Tires...

I was at Pep Boys and saw this brush for tires, I think it had copper or some metal bristles. It got me thinking.

But whats the best way to get all the dirt off my tire sidewalls. Mine are have that brownish color which seems only a wire brush would scrape off. I would like to get it back to black before I shine them.
Thanks :flag

I've always used SOS pads to do the whole tire including white letters or white walls. It brings up the black and makes the white stand out. Follow up with a tire dressing and then go over the white with a dry cloth to take off any residue. After the dressing dries I usually wipe the tire with a dry towel and they look like new natural rubber.

I use a regular tire brush, not a metal one to clean tires. If they are very dirty I spray them with Bleechwhite first. Hope this helps

Bon-Ami with a scrub brush works great on tires.

Eagle One makes a readily available tire cleaner. :yesnod: Used with a stiff nylon brush, it does an effective job at cleaning.

The brass brush works well on tires, but any stiff brush will do the trick. I also like using Spray Nine on tires, it works awesome. I have used it for years on my tires. Gets the white white and the black just black. And then you can add you dressing after. It doesn't dry out the tires, completely safe.

Simple Green, with a stiff brush works great! To get your tires and wheels really clean, take them off the car, then wash them.
