Default Zoop Seal Vs Clear coat

I have just finished buffing the suspension of the vette. Does anyone have thoughts on zoop seal vs clear paint to protect the parts? How long with each last, etc....

Zoop's is supposed to last a couple of years, but I dont' know how it holds up to abrasive road grime ie sand, rocks etc.

After polishing the suspension of my 86 I used ZoopSeal. That was six months ago and everything still looks good. There is a catch. IF you have polished to a bright luster, after applying the ZoopSeal you will need to polish the part again with the kit supplied formula. My parts have a "brushed polish" finish and did not require this final buff. This was described in the instructions, with great detail. Everything that can happen is clearly spelled out in the instructions. So if you plan to go this route, ensure you read the instruction three times over before starting.

I already have the instructional video tape and will be glad to lend it out if your not convinced.

ZoopSeal is not a coating. It is a metal treatment to arrest corrosion. I chose Zoop since clear coat cannot penetrate the surface.

Geez, I sound like an advertisment..........

Looks great. What all did you use (compounds, etc.)? I am about to undergo this project and need all the advice I can handle.

Default Items used to buff parts

I recently purchased a good 8" buffer 1 1/2 hp from craftsman. I then called eastwood to get the buffs and polish. I spent approx 30 mins doing all the buffing on these 4 parts. I first started out with a sprial sewn buff a tripoli compound. I finished it off with a loose buff and white rough compound. Below is a picture of the buffer:

Matt,

I will also be polishing suspension pieces soon and have been looking for various coatings to reduce future maintenance. On a previous car I had the parts ceramic coated which has worked well but I wanted a higher polished look for this one. I ended up ordering a product from POR called Glisten. A friend of mine used it and thought it worked well. Based on their description of how it works I thought it was worth a try. We will test it ourselves to see how well it coats, if it dulls the finish much and how well it lasts. Here is a link to the site with more details: http://www.prp-porstore.com/glisten.htm

Your polishing area looks too clean to have been used. Polishing is a dirty job and I usually come out looking like the "pigpen" character from the Peanuts comic strip.
