Default eastern NC FRC

Hello all. I've just moved to Newport, NC, in eastern NC. I also just purchased a 2000 FRC (daily driver) that I would like to take road racing. I have done a 3-day school, a few autocross events and an HPDE in my Trans Am... which I have since sold to purchase an FRC to take road racing.

I'm looking to make some contacts in the area. I wouldn't mind learning if there is a shop in the area that you trust to do alignments, tires, and exhaust work... oh, yeah.... let's not forget the NC inspection that I'll have to get this week.

I know there is an autocross event this weekend, but I am not sure if I'm available: family plans... Memorial Day.

Lastly, if someone has a complete exhaust system for headers for sale, drop me a line. This car has a complete Borla with 8000 miles, and I'd like something a little tamer.

Thanks, Bob

Welcome to Eastern NC. There's a lot of racing in NC and SC. Try and make it to an autocross at Sanford as those are one of the best in the area.
There will be a high speed event at CMP Labor Day weekend I think. Look in this area for a thread with a bunch of NCCC upcoming events.

What color FRC did you get?

Welcome to NC and CF. You have come to the right place. Lots of guys here do the DE thing, lots of T1 races and yes the cone crushers are abundent.

Hang out here are you will see where we head off to for a little track time.

I think there is an AutoX in Sanford NC, sw or Raleigh Mem weekend. Not sure on that.

Hey Bob,
I told you there were a couple guys running around here. The Carolina crew is a great group of guys and gals. You will find a ton of seat time in this area.

Thanks

Johnny, thanks for the reply. This is NORTH for me, as I spent most of my life in either south or central FLORIDA. Thats some 650 to 800 miles south of here, depending.

Randy@DRM put long tubes and a full Borla on this car last year, amongst other things . So I would not need headers, but I do want to replace the Borla with something a little tamer, like a B&B or Flowmaster, maybe even an SLP. I don't know how the stock ZO6 exhaust would effect the HP, as this car has the DRM 480 HP top end kit. I don't want to choke it.

The White is rare as well. I tried to get the low mileage Nassua Blue garage queen that we posted 2 months ago, but I wasn't ready yet. Now that I've moved, I can sell the 2005 Colorado to pay for the FRC.

I've probably owned more black cars than the average person has owned cars, so black is just fine with me! And I wish I still owned half of them.

Bob. There is a hillclimb in NC, August 5,6 in Sparta, NC www.blueridgehillclimb.com Nice time to be in the mountains of NC.

Also, July 22,23 there is a hillclimb at SnowShoe Ski Mtn WV www.snowshoehillclimb.com

I might be interested in some of your exhaust pieces. Not sure about vette shops down your way.

Mash, thanks for letting me know about the events. So far, I only plan to attend VIR with NASA-MidAtlantic at the end of July.

I'm trying to sort the car out before I commit it to a race. Right now I have issues with it stalling.

The exhaust I'll have for sale soon is a Borla XR1. And it was just too loud for me. There is only a resonator under the torque tube. The pipes over the axles are "straight" pipes. I thought about adding mufflers to the back, and then just swaping to the straight pipes for races. But really, that's such a hassle each time.

Try posting in the SouthEast section of the Upcoming Events and Regional Discussion . More local people in there.

When you're serious about your Track Days make the journey up to Phoenix Auto Center in Palm,PA to get your alignment and corner balancing done. Call Kurt at 215-679-2232 to make an appointment. They can schedule it so you can wait while it's done.

Phoenix Performance has won the SCCA National Championship in T1 for the past 5 consectutive years.

Hey Bob,
You moved to great area for racing your FRC! There’s allot of great people and events throughout the year in the Carolina region, extending right up to the edge of Virginia. Hit the Carolina region NCCC site!

http://www.crnccc.com/

A couple of us have a fair amount of experience with lessons learned about setting up your FRC for racing too.
