Default T-1 setup-any tips?

Is there a consensus starting point for alignment, ride height and rake that the car likes with T1 suspension? Anyone know if the C6 likes anything different than the C5?

For racing? Part-time HPDE guy?? Agressive Street????

If you are racing, get as much neg camber as you can on the front and about half that on back. -3F, -1.5R. Toe the front out just slighly and the rear in.

As far as ride height and rake - let the pros adjust that. Take it to Phoenix Perf and let them go to work on it!!!!

Good question, the car is used mostly for HPDE.

Would love to take it to Phoenix, but they are a little bit of a hike. Thanks!

I was very happy with -1.5*F/-1.0*R, 8* caster and front out/rear in all of last year for HPDEs. Street tires and a car that does see some street. I was really happy with it.

I'm switching to v710s so upped the camber to -2.5/-1.3 this year but haven't run yet, so I'm looking forward to feeling it out.

Crap - just read you have T1... well, I have z06 but figured I'd go ahead and post instead of cancelling to share what I liked.

Hope this helps some.

You're in VA right?!?!?! Holy cow man, that's a no-brainer trip. They are going to get you 2-3 seconds per lap just by putting the right settings on there. For 2-3 seconds, I'd travel to the moon!

I'm sure what Chris meant to say was..... if your racing, as much camber as the rules allow which is -2 degs in T1 (& T2). Right Chris?

2-3 Sec a lap for Chris, eternity would be less time.

Matt your close enough to T1 speeds at now at VIR. Have Phoenix corner balance and align your car and you be in the 2:11s and under group.

OK you guys have me about talked into it-I'm just scared that I'll be like the proverbial kid in the candy store if I set foot in that shop. (bye bye checkbook!)

I think I'm pretty comfortable with the alignment settings, I'd just like to know a good starting point for ride heights. Before the suspension went on the car was an awful handful under braking-I'm wondering if 1 inch is too much rake, or if it's just too low in the front, or if I'm just being a sissy about it.

Were you able to get that much -camber without camber plates?

Rake and ride height are measured in several places. mostly at the points the lower A-arms attach to the frame front and rear

For ease of meauring I found that the difference from just in front of the front jacking puck holes and just behing the rear jacking puck holes should be 4-5 mm.

overall the car should not be lower then 1" from stock ride height and 1/2" lower then stock may be better.

Yes. There appears to be a bit more to spare based on where the hole in the eccentrics is, but I can't say for sure. I have the printout from Ruf.

I know the feeling. Everytime I go there I leave with less money than I entered, but I have smile on my face.

Take Chris' advice: make the treck to Phoenixville. It's not too far for you and worth every dime in travel costs.

I think it's actually -3 in T1.

Let Joe and his folks know what you have to spend and they'll tell you what they can do.

Going there, you won't have to worry...or wonder...or be concerned...etc. You'll know it's right. That's worth it's weight in gold on a race track!!!

Wouldn't the investment in a set of scales be cheaper in the long run?

If you look at the T1 car spec chart in the GCR it allows the C5's to run up to -3.5 (f) & -2.5 (r) with the GM T1 kit.

A trip to Phoenix would be well worth the money since you are that close, they have a lot of experience and know exactly how to set up a C5. Buying scales would be cheaper in the long run until you factor in all of the testing time required to get your settings figured out.

I take my car to Phoenix because I know they have the experience setting up T1 cars that win.

They are not expensive for what you get. After having my car corner weighted and then adding the T1 Sways I felt like I was on rails.

Call Kurt at Phoenix 215-679-2232 Talk to him on what you would like as far as set up and he can let you know if it's in your budget.

With 5 consectutive National T1 Championships , they know what they are doing

I suggested to Wicked Weasel to make the trip and he was extremely happy. wtknght1 came up from AL and he said the trip was well worth it.

Kurt and his guys will take great care of you

Jeff
