Default Nurburgring PDF "How to"

I hope I spelled it correctly. Check this PDF tour of the Ring! Man if you think Mid Ohio or the Glen are technical, look through this! This track is simply amazing...must be scary as hell

http://www.bmw.com/generic/com/en/fa...rdschleife.pdf

Might come in handy for our European Corvette friends!

that's one way to put it

here's my standard advice for anyone going to the ring for the 1st time.

-Forget it's a race track for at least the first year. Treat it like a back country road where you don't have to worry about cops, but you're still not sure what's going to be waiting around the next turn. Just relax and go have fun, but don't try for good lap times.

-It doesn't matter if you've been racing for years, the ring is different and your just a rookie. If you don't respect it, you're car or you and your car will pay for it.

-It's a brutal and unforgiving place. During your 20k lap, there is more than 1000ft of elevation change. Blind corners are the norm and the armco is right there waiting for the slightest mistake.

-After about 15-20 laps, you'll think you know you're way around and start to push it a little. That's when most of the people get hurt. The experienced ringers will tell you that you need between 75 and 100 laps to really learn the track.

-Remember, this is the track that the FIA said was too dangerous for the best drivers in the world, so now they just let any moron with a drivers licence out there. There are somewhere between 3 and 12 fatal wrecks there every year and cars are totaled on a daily basis.

I see why the FIA yanked F1 from it, but I still miss it being at that track.

I'd like to see the 24hr race they still hold there.

Must be interesting at night

Default Excellent article - Thanks!

Here's a video demo of how it is done -- Hans Stuck in a factory BMW M3 GTR

Yes, the C6Z is almost a minute faster, but we dont' have that video. But there is another video from 2001 of a street 'vettte and a Lotus Elise -- considerably slower lap times, but still fun.
