Default New A6 info and feedback

I have run on the A6's and just wanted to post and get some feedback and hopefully some advice on what may work the best.
First off I will preface this with the fact that I ran A6's on the front of the car and A3S05's on the back because I could not get any 315's. I ran 295/35 r17 A6's on the front and 315/35 R17 05's on the back. I was worried that having more rubber on the back was gonna make the car push like crazy and much to my surprise the car had incredible sustained lateral grip, great turn in and the occasional rear end sliding a bit more than the front. I am fairly sure this was due to the A6's working at a diffrent slip angle and the tires just being better. Now my issue is this: Do I go back to the faithful 315 at all four corner sizing that has yet to fail and rub in the front from time to time or do I go with 295's in the front and 315's in the back and get a better turn in and forget about any clearance issues. Now with A6's on the back I feel that the increased forward bite may make it a bit pushy but if the tires are this much better they may handle it. Also last years winning BSP corvette seems to be running the 295 -315 combo and the new owner of the car always seem to run extremely well. He also runs 9.5 inch wheel where we run 11's. Any of you hot shoes out there that may be able to help i would be very greatful.
Thanks in advance,

Al

Al, your information is out of date. That BSP champ car was running 315/335's at the last event, time for you to get with the program and get the bigger tires.

BTW if there are any C3 guys lurking the A6's worked pretty well on my car. I like them alot so far and ran them at low pressure, 28f 26r.

Has anyone heard of the 315/35/R17 A6's having a "tread distortion/seperation" issue? The more I think about it I may just go with another set of 710's until this stuff is sorted out. I would really love to give more business to Hoosier because they are still American .

Yes, I heard that a couple of the ESP guys (Strano/Meredith) were having this issue during testing at Grissom. Hoosier Tom said it was only the 315-17, so I'm in the clear

Al you have to stay on 05's until they figure out the problem.

If anything happens with my tires I'll post it here.

Hey Mike,

Still trying to burn through those Street TD's I bought from you a while back. They just don't wear out!

Anyway, I figured I'd have to try some new tires eventually, and the A6's seemed to be the best choice right now. And Kumho doesn't have a 710 that will fit my 16x11's.

One of these days we'll hit the same event and have the chance to run together.

edit........Mike, NWOR this Sunday

I have to find a way around you some day Chris. Maybe I will just pick up a set of bias plys!
You know I gotta poke fun at you about those things. The Ironic thing is that you whoop me on those damn tires.

Al:

The issue you mention is restricted to only that size and my sources tell me it was identified as a manufacturing issue. However, a new batch has not been released yet (as of 5/31). Depending who you buy your Hoosiers from, they can tell you the latest.

Well what I was told is that 3 ESP cars running the 315 had the middle of the tread start to split after as few as 12 runs. So I hope that the issue gets resolved soon. Thanks for the info Al

I've had two Pro Solo's and one test event now in the A6's (285/18, 335/18) and have had no build issues. The tires are fast, and seem to be wearing well (only 24 runs on each set).

Default A6 & V710s

Chris,

I'll have to check with Hoosier on the durability issue of the 315s.

BTW, I've got a set of 265/45-16s 710s on my 16x11's right now. They are stretched and the rim edges are beyond the sidewall, but they do fit.

Any interest in a set of 275/45-16 A3S03's? Super cheap.

I have an OVR local on Sunday. So you run SM2?

Al:

Yes, I talked to one of those three ESP drivers and I talked to the person who mounted/dismounted/brought the tires back to Hoosier. The problem is restricted just to that size.
