Default Remember when it was hard as a rock and firmer......

than a 6-inch piece of homogenous steel?

Well, the past couple of weekends have been like that for me.

Nope! There’s no Viagra or Cialis involved.

I finally used up my tapered brake pads and put some new ones on and the difference is shocking! I remember when they were like this, but ever so gradually, they just kept going down, and down, and down. It got so bad at times when I was blipping the throttle on a heel/toe downshift, I was blipping with the right side of my ankle.

Man, I wish I could afford new brake pads for every event.

Jealous!

I can't seem to get that new. What calipers/pads are using?

Wilwood pads with stock calipers. The brake pedal is fantastic when they are new, but as they taper it gets worse and worse.

Some of that is flex in the caliper, right? Had the same problem with the stock calipers, C5 Z06 pads, and Motul, but the pedal would return by the time I got home (75 mile highway ride).

Jody - those are pictures I definitely did NOT want in my head.

I hear you about the tapering - keeps making me think about the Stoptech or Brembo packages.

I can relate. There is not much you can do with soft and spongy.

I thought I had a bad master cylinder or caliper(s) on the FRC after two events at Roebling and one at Sebring. The pads (ZO6 ones I picked up from you) do not look too bad but you can really feel it in the pedal.

New pads and tires every event would be so nice...

In my case, as the pads taper, the pedal stays with the long, somewhat spongy, travel and never returns to its original firmness with time. It just gradually gets worse until my cheap azz installs new pads. After new ones are installed, my pedal feels like it did when I was a teenager.

And then the cycle starts again!

Keep in mind, my front Wilwood's last 5 or six weekends, but they're down to the backing plate by then.
