Corvette wins it's first WC race of 2006 then this!!
Hi guys,
Win a race, and get an even smaller restrictor. And lose 300 rpms. Porsche had fastest lap, fastest top speed, and fastest acceleration, but the Corvette gets the "booby Prize". The restrictor plate size will now go from 69.7mm down to 66.7mm. So our 90mm throttle plate opening has to go through a flat plate 1/8" thick with a 66.9mm hole in it and we have to lower our shift points from 7400rpm to 7100 rpm. Looks like they want the Porsche or Viper to win.
I am trying to put a deal together to run a Viper for Infineon or Salt Lake to prove a point. (sorry, really)
Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

what a crock of sh*t.
I guess on the flip side, at least they're not mandating you run on the runflats...
If you had run away with every race by 30 seconds I could understand but for crying out loud...
Sorry to hear.

I just got off the chassis dyno and we lost right at 15 rwhp and 10rwtq through out the entire range with the new restrictor. If that were an engine dyno it would be 17 hp and over 11 torque.
If any of you are SCCA members, write to the board of directors and give them a piece of your mind. The SCCA board is ultimately in control of the World Challenge series.
The worst part is that they told me that the Porsche had the fastest top speed, PLUS the fastest acceleration. That is the part that I just don't understand.
Since this is Pro Racing, and we pay them big entry fees, shouldn't there be a law against "stacking the deck"?
at any rate, I really do have 2 Vipers that I am checking on as a back up so I can still have a chance at the Championship. I know it is like heresy but I am not going to let them control the outcome of this championship when I am just 2 points away from leading.
Thanks for the support guys.

PS, And I forgot one thing. I get to add 40 pounds "rewards" weight for winning also. That goes on top of the other two things.

What a load of crap. I am an SCCA member and will put my thoughts on paper over this one. At any rate please do make the Viper thing happen and let us know when it does, it should be great fun to watch! After your win in the Viper, win one with the Porsche too.

Do I understand correctly?
Sufficiently well-heeled customers can order up factory designed and
built, competition-ready Vipers and Porsches from the respective
factories.
Corvette campaigners can pick up a street car from a local dealer,
gut it, puzzle out what they think will work, assemble it all and show
up at a track for qualifying, hoping they got things right?
Seems like a modern day David and the Goliaths story to me.
Do the penalties apply equally/immediately to any marque that wins
or is this action and its promptness clearly singling out the Corvettes?

Clearly, the Corvette has been the dominant marque in this year's SWC GT series as evidenced by its current 4th place standing in manufacturer's points and the fact that there is only one Corvette driver in the top eight in the driver's points standings.

This does seem a bit uncalled for based on the facts.

RACE two, Porsche wins, NO PENALTY, except that they got 50 pounds off and 300 MORE revs after the next race.
Race three, Cadillac wins, No penalty, but that was where the Porsche got the positive adjustment for finishing 5th, where I finished 4th,
Mid Ohio, Corvette C6 wins, gets tighter restrictor plate and minus 300 revs.
You be the judge.
