Just in case anyone was wondering why the diagonals are so important when you corner weight a car, check out these pics! You can see the LR is really planted and if I ran over your foot with the RF you would hardly feel it! Photos by Tracktimephotos.

Great pics!

If it's all the same, I'd prefer you not run over my foot at all

Don't we all in this section?

Look for a local DE event, they're all over! Get on the track - NOW!

This was at a SCDA ( www.scda1.com ) event. In addition if you have a SCCA, NASA etc license, most Thursdays are open practice at NHIS. Other clubs such as SCCA, NASA, BMWCCA, COMSCC and others run there as well. Come up and play with us!

Gary,

Just curious, are street cars allowed for the NHIS open practice days? Most tracks out here only allow comp cars (roll cage, fire supress system) to run practice/test and tune days

Yes, the rule there is if the car and you are allowed on their track with some club that runs there, then you and your car are allowed on test days. NHIS scares the crap out of most newcomers but I love the place! I like the off-camber and hilly parts of the track, and the NASCAR level facilities are first rate.

I'll be back in Ma. for a couple of weeks next month and may come up to check it out.

Great pictures. Makes me want to get back to the track.

How are the new rotors holding up and when will they be ready? I got 5 track days out of the stock front rotors, now I'm on my second set.

I have no idea. I was only driving at 6-7 tenths anyway, I really can't afford to ball it up. I was testing the fixed mount rotors and I ran out of pads (the original, I did not get the new ones yet). I can say, thanks to the HUD, that I was doing 135-140 into turn 1, and 115 into turn 6 which is hauling a$$ there. This is fast but in this configuration I can usually do about 150-155 into turn 1 in my GT car. This car is great, brakes notwithstanding.

Way too slow. I have been flat out filling orders and developing new C6 products (seriously). It's killing me not to hear my screaming Joe Gibbs motor!

The rev 2 version of the floating rotors will be here this week. The way the floating part of the rotor attaches to the hat has been revised. Now if I can get my pads from Porterfield...

After looking at the photos more closely, I'm wondering why there is so much fender well gap in the front compared to the back? Not that it matters what the car looks like on the track. Are the front wheels and tires a shorter overall diameter than stock?

No the fronts are 295-18's so a little bigger than stock. What you are seeing is the huge torque of the LS7 hooking up and almost making the car wheelie out of the corners. Also, in 2 of the pics I just left a rough transition from the back section (turn 10) onto the NASCAR oval that is burying the rear wheel. The suspension is a little soft for real serious track work, but very good for street use. The car would love a set of Penske's or Moton's with coilovers. I have that setup on my race car and it feels like a wet rag hitting the ground there, no bouncing or thumping just smooth.
Too bad he did not get any shots of the braking zone into turn 3, you would see the opposite with the front wheel buried. This is a real demonstration of dynamic weight transfer!

I thought about that after I posted.
