Messing with my headers at VIR this weekend I noticed the Optima was a little gooey around the base... yeah the gel is seeping out again... this is the 2nd time!
I'll take some pics tonight when I pull it out.
It's warrantied, but I'm not sure I want another of these!
Is there something about them that they can't take HPDE use?

I've had a Red Top and a Yellow Top. I removed the battery surround and my headers glow almost cherry under boost - no problems so far.

Brian, perhaps you don't know your own strength and are overtightening the battery cables; side posts are very susceptible to damage from this.
