Trailer Tire Mounts
I need to install some poles of some sort on my Econotrailer so I can save the space in my truck by not having to haul a 2nd set of wheels/tires. I'd prefer that they be mounted in a bolt-on fashion to the frame forward of the car. I have a friend who welds, so fabricating the poles is not an issue.
Anyone have any advice on how I should do this?

Check out the tire racks made by Trailex. They are aluminum and lightweight. They make them specifically for their trailers, but you might be able to bolt one of theirs to your trailer. Probably worth investigating.

You can also pick up a lightweight aluminum trailer box to store tiedowns, tools, etc. I just got one from Northern Industrial. Not expensive, nicely made and very light. V-shaped, mounted it to the trailer V up front. Tire rack may be next (next spring?), so let me know what you end up doing.

Melting Slicks
somewhat off topic, but hows your experience been with the econotrailer? i need to pick up a cheap open trailer.
does the vette get up the ramp with no problem? or do you need 2x4?
also interested in the tire poles.
thanks

The trailer has been decent, but I've noticed that it sways a bit if the weight is centered. I have to pull the car forward with a lot of tongue weight to get it to track straight when I'm pulling it.
I built two wooden pieces to assist in loading onto the ramps. They're only to keep the air skirts from bending.
