Default Time to Upgrade Wheels - Advice Needed

Some advice please.

I've outgrown running 18x9.5 wagon wheels with R compound all the way around in HPDEs at Hallett. Been running either 285/18 Kumho's or 275/18 RA1's front and rear. I think I'd do better with some bigger rubber. Car is a coupe with Z06 suspension and DRM ducts.

1. What size wheels and tires do you guys recommend? I like running the same size all the way around to increase life by rotating and flipping. I'm thinking this is not the optimum setup and am willing to change if needed.

I should also mention budget restraints dictate I run scrubs so I need suggestions for which scrubs are available. Thought about a used set of Z06 wheels but think I'd have a hard time getting scrubs in 17/18

Maybe four 18x10.5 Z06 wheels?

Budget will also dictate used wheels.

2. T1 guys seem to be running 17's all the way around as tires are cheaper. What tires are you running. Toyo's don't make a 17 big enough for the rear?

3. I've thought about slicks instead of DOT-R compound but people have said this will really wear components much quicker due to the increased traction. I'm not really wanting to wear the car out just doing HPDE's but I really am at the limit with my current setup.

4. Another option is stick with my wagon wheels and run 305's on the rear but some have said they are too wide for a 9.5" wheel? If this would work it would be my cheapest alternative...I would prefer this route but am not sure.

I know it takes time to answere each question but your time is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

It is awfully hard to beat CCW. They will get you exactly what you want, the weight will be at a minimum, can be repaired if you ding them, and their quality is superb. Don't get the cheapest, the value of the CCW's is top notch. I run them:

go w/ 4 17x11 oem zr1's or 4 18x10.5 oem z06's, those are the only real option you have w/out spending an arm and a leg on custom wheels...

Get yourself a set of T1 sized set of CCWs (17x10, 17x11), you might even find a set used if you post or call Phoenix (like I did). Then you can get prime used rubber from the T1 National guys at $300-400 a set.

Made a decision. I have 4 OEM 18" x 10.5" Z06 wheels on the way. Bought two Alcoas from Bob's and two Speedlines from a forum member.

Total price $690 delivered.

I'' be running 305/18 RA-1's all the way around.

Thanks for the advise.
