July 21 - Sears Point with TMR
Anyone else going for the Friday at Infineon? Found out yesterday that two friends, Russ in his C6 and his wife Terri in her C5Z06 are both going as well so we should have a small Corvette corral if any one wants to drop by and say hi. I think the event is wait list at this point from the TMR site and I'm not surprised given that time on Sears Point is very hard to come by this time of year. If anyone is close and wants to see what a track day is all about, possibly even ride a couple laps if you come with helmet, it should be a good group of very capable track cars.

I'll be there...wouldn't miss the chance to chase down Sidney! We'll be at the Courtyard in Novato thursday night. Doug usually tries to get everyone including the Porsche guys to dinner the night before although I haven't heard anything about this yet. You might send him an email and see what the plans are. See ya there, Steve

It's the full course. TMR doesn't time the events and post results like NCRC or Speedventures, so unless someone brings their own transponder, lap times are spotty. I think I turned a 1:58.5 last time I was there. 94 LT1, Hoosier GAC's, 280 RWHP, 3600# with fuel and driver.

I will try to remember to hand time a few laps if any older Vettes or replicars are running. I have my hot lap set up out the right side and that rarely works at SP since I depend on others to set up the beacon, some times they put one on the inside wall. Best below and yes my C5 won't catch Sidney in his C4, yet .
Sidney, since I don't have to do I-80 back I doubt I'll stay around. If you wanted to take the long route home down 680 I'm good for dinner in Danville.

Good to go, when the track closes. We might even beat the crowd to Pete's in Danville if we are lucky.
Now I just have to check all the regular stuff and get the car ready for another day on track. Should be good with a few other Vettes and I might enlist you too in some lead follow, 2-3 laps early in the day. Russ and Terri have done lots at TH but not much at SP so they might need a brush up early. I'm sending them some SV video as well.

63Corvette,
You looked good out there for your first time at Sears. It is not an easy course to learn and you had a lot of traffic to contend with. Gough has been driving that course for years.

Um, the only problem is that this was my 4th year racing at Sears Point Guess I need to race there more than once a year.

I thought you had said before you came down to Sears this year that it was your first visit. It is tough when you only visit it once a year. I know that I never felt comfortable at Portland with our once a year visits.

Larry I've only been to the Monterey Historics once, so don't really know how to drive Laguna Seca, but this was my 4th year for the Wine Country. I hope to do a little better next year, but I seem to do a little better each year, so maybe I'm learning something. My car is not a "racecar" and weighs 3050lbs, so in addition to Terry being a much better driver, that is another reason why he is faster. Both Terry and Don Lee have been very giving with their guidance and have lead me around to show me the line. Fact is, Vettes never beat Cobras back in the day, and I don't expect to now. I just want to run consistently the best I can......and have fun doing it. We made a conscious decision NOT to turn my car into a racecar, and so far, are meeting our goal of running every lap and not breaking anything. See ya next year

Sidney, should be a fun day all the way into the evening. Pete's is fun except for the parking, all on street with no real close lots, and then it depends on how busy the rest of the town is, but early should be good. From that direction we should make the 45 miles in less than an hour and then over dinner your drive south should clear up pretty nicely. When we get the schedual from TMR I can figure when we might leave the track and see if anyone else wants to join us.
63corvette, good approach from another's point of view. I expect I'll make next year's Infineon historics and root you on to personal bests.
