Default Will 295's fit on a 9.5" rim?

I run 9.5 Z06 rims up front at the track. Usually, I buy 275's. I know the stock size is 265. I know you ain't fittin a 305 or higher "safely", but can I fit a 295 and still be within reasonable levels? I run 315's in the back on GS rims and figure a 295 might help balance out things and take away some understeer.

Yes....................A lot of SCCA SS Corvettes used to run the 295 on 9.5's when they were available.

I see Kumho makes a 295/17 now, that is why I asked. I may try these out next time around.

I would check out Kumho's web site, they have the rim width for each tire size for each tire type. For the V710 they list a 295/40R17 which is recomended for a rim width of 10.0 - 11.5 inches. Not sure if that is a hard limit or not...

I have 315/35-17 GS-CS mounted on my front 9.5 rims. Cornering is OK and braking is awsome. Goodyear recommends 10" minimum...

Yeah, I see that as well. I can also see this not being a big deal for Autocross (SS). Even if the tires folds over a little or deforms in some way, you are not going over 90mph and usually don't have walls 2 feet away.

I would like to hear any road racers that have used this size on this rim. I am not worried about the 50mph corner as much as the 115 mph turn one at Pocono or the 160+ mph top speed I'll be hitting on the back strait. Tire issues become much more serious at those speeds.

I ran bigger tires than that on 9.5 in rims. You won't have any issues! Drive the crap out of 'em!!

Whoops, guess I'm in trouble then, because that's exactly what I'm moving to. Seriously, I've been running 275s on 8.5 rims (30 mm over), going to 305s on 9.5 rims (also 30mm over) should work just fine. I know several folks on here have done that.

Have a good one,
Mike

Awesome responses guys...I think I will go with the 295's. Any rubbing issues I need to be aware of? I have the stock Z06 ducts.

You can get a very very little bit of rubbing on the outside lip of the fender if you are lowered all the way on stock bolts with the Kumho 295's, assuming that you are at max negative camber (like all you can get with the stock adjustment), it is nothing to worry about... If you aren't running max negative camber they will rub more....
