John,
VSCCA runs with the Jaguar club in early June at LRP. For that event, also 2 days, VSCCA runs separate from everyone else. As a result, the amount of track time we get is substantially reduced -- 2 1/2 hours on the track over 2 days vs. 5 hours when I run there with FCA and NO VSCCA. You should check the run schedule before you sign up for the event. If VSCCA is eating up a big chunk of run time, you might be disappointed with the amount of time you get on the track. Also, they tend to break down a lot and dump oil and other stuff on the track which wastes more time and, as we say, makes thing "interesting."
BTW, vintage means pre-1961. They run a lot of old MG's, Lotus, Triumph, and a bunch of specialty stuff, open wheel cars, etc.

Thanks Steve I just ask for the schedule from PDA. Sounds like a bust. I was there once when when some the oldies were running and it really slowed things up. Is it fun to watch them? What types come out? I'll check LRP web page they may list it.

John,
It is fun to watch them. Most are really fitted out as full race cars, and some of the really old ones are a blast to see on the track. A couple of years ago, someone had a 1939 Indy race car with those huge thin wheels, like a bath tub on wagon wheels, out there. Straight pipes, loud as heck, but fun to watch. But if you are out there for track time, you probably won't get as much as an event without VSCCA, IMHO.
Steve
p.s. If you want a huge amount of track time, come up to Watkins Glen over Labor Day weekend with the FCA Empire Region. Three days of almost unlimited run time. If you want the details, PM me.

John last time I ran with SCDA at limerock they had 3 seperate groups - IMSA testing, Lotus, and Advance Drivers. Each group had plenty of track time because they stayed within their groups.
My guess is that since PDA is for advance drivers only they will have the same sort of setup thus you will get the same amount of track time and only with Advance drivers in the group. VSCCA will run be themself so they will not be in the way.

Hi John
We are just running red & black run groups on Friday and Saturday , and we are going to have open passing ! .
The race group gets a set time only , so when there time is up they are off the track .

Steve - Open Passing Same way that SCDA did it and I think it was one of my best days on the track. It made it so much fun to know that if I got the point by I could pass on the inside of a turn.

I am thinking of racing this event weekend. I usually race EMRA NEI
This is going to be interesting.
It is listed as a NASA North East Race weekend.
+
VSCCA Vintage racing under NASA sanctioning body.
Now I read it is also PDA advanced drivers with passing. I hope they are not considering HPDE cars mixed with race cars on track at the same time, bad idea.
I thought it was just NASA Race & Vintage Race now with the addition of HPDE it will be interesting to see how this works out. How many groups do they need to run.
3 for NASA race, 2 Vintage, 2HPDE. 7 run groups?
I am still not sure if I am going to race that weekend, work, wife, 3 year old son, I have to sort out the priorities here as usual.
Anyone know what the schedule may look like?
