Default New World Challenge entrant needs your help.

My partner John Boos is entered to run his first World Challenge GT race at Road America on Aug. 20th. We are running a C5 Z06 carbon fiber bodied car as we couldn't afford to move up to the C6 body and motor. We are thrashing to get the car done and get some track time by the end of next weekend. Does anybody know of any open track availabilty in the upper midwest like Ill., Wisc., Iowa, Mn at the end of this week or this coming weekend?

Take a look on Open Track Action. You can find events anywhere in the country. Click on the Schedules button on the left.

Lou's clinic on Friday at Putnam Park. As part of a Viperdays event they will be offering 2 hrs of track time on Saturday and another 2 hrs on Sunday. You can join the race group or run time trials. The track is one of my favorites. Very safe so you won't be risking your equipment unnecessarily. Viperdays is very friendly and extremely well run, with small groups and great instruction. And did I mention Lou will be there on Friday!

Good luck, see you at Elkhart,

There is a session this weekend at Blackhawk with the Chicago Audi group.... http://audichicago.org/

I know the spots are "full", but contact them and explain what's up.

I assume you are aware of the Thursday (17th) test day.

Your probably better off with the C5 these days. You can run 200lbs lighter AND no restrictor plate. Just make sure you're running the smaller ASA camshaft, not the one we used to run. Not that they are likely to check it anyway.

I have been thinking the same thing. As it stands now, the C5 should be one of the faster, straight line, cars. At R. America it should certainly help.

Btw, is the Boos car the old Farmer ride?

Actually, they'll have to carry REWARDS weight for their first race, so it won't be an advantage. As if I wasn't slow enough at Mid Ohio, the extra weight is killer for a new car.

Lou should consider jumping into a C5, if he still has one available. 200lbs less weight, larger intake (smaller TB, but still larger than the restrictor in the C6), but small camshaft. Still better power-to-weight overall, likely

You sure about them needing the extra weight? The PRR reads:

2.15.9: Following the third round, any driver entering their first race of the season in
that class shall carry an amount of weight equal to the highest amount carried in that
class at that race. Rookies, as defined by the PRR, as well as any driver (rookie or
otherwise) who has not won a race in any of the series listed in section 2.4.3.1 in the
five seasons preceding the current season, shall be exempt from this rule.

Wrong car, this statement is incorrect!

The car we built was for Ed Braswell, but will be at Road America.

John Boos and Ron have been working on their car off and on for some time. John is one hell of a driver so I can't wait to see how the race goes.

Good luck guys,
Randy
