Default auto-x question

Anybody drive to auto-x events with their race tires on their cars?

If by race tires you mean R-compound tires like Kumho Victoracers, Toyo RA-1s, etc., then sure, many folks do (me included, about 75 miles one way).

If you're referring to Kumho V-710, Hoosier, or Goodyear slicks, then no, those are carried to the event.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

All my local auto-x events are within 5-8 miles of my house. I always drive to the local events with my A6 Hoosiers. Anything beyond, and I get a buddy to haul them on his trailer.
Good luck,
Bob

Depends on distance. The track is about 30miles from my house, so I trailer my tires. But lots of people live within ~15miles and they drive out on them.

I drive on my Kumho V710's to every autocross. Both locations are 60-70 miles one way. I get about 140 runs on them, plus all the driving on them to the events. As far as Toyo RA1 tires. I use them for everyday driving and DE days.

I drive 100 - 200 miles to track time events on Victoracers & GY GS-CS tires. I usually throw a stock tire on the passenger seat with a blanket in case I cord a tire. It's really miserable if I get caught far away from home in the rain.

I got two 315's on the front seat laying on their side today, so I can transport two front tires. I have a 4 hour drive to the event tomorrow and the GY don't have much tread left. I will have Firestone WO on front and old Victoracers or rear for traveling and switch out the fronts when I get there.

Just put on my first set of V710s and also intend to drive about 50 miles one way to events. Have you noticed your tires getting harder abnormally comparable to other R tires with that much highway miles? I really don't want to put a hitch on and trailer tires.

RA1 tires ran year round for all events.
Keith your trailer is holding you back on the Autobahn.

I have not noticed tires getting harder abnormally. Just try it like I did. If your don't like it, then put on a hitch and trailer them. I have done this setup for about a year and a half. I know other folks that have driven on them, since the Kumho V710's came out.
