Default Video Cam Mount Information Needed

I have just purchased a new Sony DVD cam corder and want to take on track videos. The problem is how to mount the camera to the roll bar in the car. I have the RD 4 point bar which has a cross tube that would be an ideal centered spot for attaching the camera and mount. What is everyone using for a mounting bracket? I would like something that has the universal screw mount to use with the tripod mounting location on the bottom of the camera. Info and links would be appreciated.

Check out these mounting brackets by ChaseCam: http://www.chasecam.com/

They have a bar clamp that appears to fit the R-D Racing bar (the R-D bar is 1.5" wide) and the suction cup mounts look to be very strong if you want a window mount.

Good luck with the Sony DVD Sony mine won't run in the car more tahn a minute or two then it shuts off. I continue to use my old one which is a tape. IO Port is a good mount not sure if it will work in your case with the cross bar.

Don't know what diameter the bar is or anything, but I am using this on a BK harness bar.

I got turned on to it by an SCCA forum where someone recommended one. I bought two of them on ebay, so I've got a spare I would sell if you're interested. PM me if you are.

I am using the "I/O Port Video Camera Mount".
It comes in 1" for harness guide bars, and 1¼" to 2" for roll bars and cages. The mount features a special polyurethane bushing to help eliminate the high-frequency vibrations.
I also use the Bogen / Manfrotto 3299 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 3157N Plate for easy mounting of the camera to the mount.

I'm also using the SONY DVD video camera with IO port which shut off after a few minutes. As per recommendations found on this forum, I further insulated the mount to the harness bar with a rubber sheet. It is now working perfectly.
