Default Hawk Brake Q's

I was wondering if somebody has good comparison info with the DTC-70 and the HT-10. I currently run the 10's and I would say they are nothing short of awesome. I would also like to know a good place to buy them. I had a place that sold them for $143+ ship. It was about $158 all said and done. I dont mind spending a little more if the performance and pad life is worth it. Also if anyone knows where to get 96 rotors This would also be helpful. Thank you all in advance.

As for the rotors, even taking into account the shipping charges for new rotors, I recommend www.rockauto.com . As of lately, I have been buying used rotors from Corvette Forum members who post on C4 Parts for Sale. This has proven to be the most cost effective solution tpo my rotor cracking problem.

I ran the DTC70s (front and rear) last time at WGI. I was amazed on how great they were with stopping.

What I liked about the DTC-70s was that you had some room to just touch the brake pedal and not have them bite real hard. This fits me nicely because my driving style is usually longer and lighter on the brakes, but there were a few times that I really needed to slow down and the DTC-70s did not fail me. during the bedding procedure I took the car from 130 down to about 50 and the front air dam of my car scrape the road so I know there is plenty of stopping power with them.

I can say that we cracked 3 new rotors in 2 days on 3 different cars with these pads. I think one was because we did not get any cool down because of a black flag and the other ones happened because they did not move their cars after 15mins so the pads were sitting on the same rotor spot.

After 2 days on the track I still had plenty of brake left. The rears look hardly touched and the fronts are about 75% left. Not too bad on a high speed track, but then again I am braking a lot less at WGI then I use to.

Last year I had them for Grattan, at the end of the front straight, at my regular brake point with the HP10's I would have to accelerate to the corner when I changed to the DTC70's...moved my brake point almost 50 ft closer to the corner

how do either of those rate with respect to the Blues? I bought blues for $212/front at the Tire Rack, for $143 are the other ones better?

Well this is all great info and I appreciate the feedback. It sounds like the 70's out perform the 10's. The only thing is that I really like the hard initial bite of the 10's but nontheless. I think I will be going to the 70's. Now is there somewhere I can get them at a reasonable price? My prior connection of getting the 10's at $143 has ceased. We don't go through brakes like every weekend but I would like to find somewhere that is realiable shipping wise and priced fair. The 10's were as high as the $190's at some places but $50 to me is another autocross. So if there are any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it as well. Thanks again guys!

With Rock Auto will the cheap 13'' rotors work or is there any actual diffrence in the parts between the cheapies and the more expensive rotors? The brands as well, any real diffrence? Are the cheap rotors pre-cut cores? Thanks guys

On my C5 I use the RockAuto Rotors. They are made in Canada and are as good as any other rotor that I have seen. I have 2 sets for racing (one on the car and one in reserve) and then one set that I painted the hats for the street. I even get compliments on how nice they look

Did some research on cheapie rotors a while back. The Raybestos "PG-Plus" rotors from RockAuto seemed to work well on the track for a number of people on this site- you may want to do a search for more details. The CE/GS/J55 rotors are about $46. I haven't cracked one yet.

If you're a NASA member you're eligible for a 20% discount on Hawk pads from Porterfield. NASA members also get free shipping on orders > $50 at raceshopper.com.

I'm also using the HT-10 with good results. Maybe next year I'll try the DTC-70s...

Have fun,
Dave
