Default Is a custom suit by the 9th possible?

Could I possibly order a custom-sized suit without fancy adornment
and have it ship by Sept 9th?

It needs to be an XXL or Euro 66 with gorilla arm and giraffe leg
lengths. Ideally SFI 3.2a/5 w/ three layers or alternatively, two
layers.

Carl's going to Wendover and if I can get a suit, I just might join
him on the 13th.

I have found with money anything is possible. Probably will be hard to do. There is a guy in NY who is at PDA events selling race equipment and he custom makes suits. Does some for the guy that owns HANS.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to ask for his contact info but this is not
a money's no-object situation. Do you happen to have an address
and a name?

Bill Simpson's company Impact Racing does custom suits for not
much more than what their standard suits sell for and in line with
what a Sparco seems to cost. Sparco does custom suits but
the advertising says delivery is typically 3-4 weeks.

Maybe at this point in the season, shorter times might be feasible.
Perhaps they have suits with unfinished legs/arms...

Call Curt at Teamtech. He made me one that is fantastic with all of my Hardbar logo's embroidered on it. He can also build-in a head and neck restraint (Tucker device) between the layers.

Thanks Rogue Leader, I went to PDA's site as suggested
by John and was about to try to call the number listed there.

And thanks to everyone for the referrals. I have my
measurements in hand and am dialing to see who picks up
on Sat.

Got your PM and email, Carl. Thanks.

About SafeRacer - you'll get a chuckle

I called them today a few minutes ago since I hadn't received a reply
to the email I sent Saturday asking whether they could ship 2nd day
instead of ground.

Talked with Scott. Said I was calling to place a rush International
order. His first words were 'We don't ship International orders'
Flabbergasted, I thanked him for his time and ended the call.

Puzzled, I went back to their site. Here's what I found
Shipping

At SafeRacer.com we believe in simplicity:

Shipping is free on all orders over $100.00.

Orders less than $100.00 are charged a a fixed rate of $7.95.

Domestic orders are shipped via UPS Ground. International orders
ship via USPS and can take up to 6 weeks for delivery. Please be
advised that we do not ship some items internationally. please email
us with any international order questions.

Rush orders - inquire for availability and cost.

HI, AK orders are $20 extra and will be sent via UPS Ground.

Puerto Rico orders are $25 extra.

International orders - inquire for cost.
Called back and pointed out that the site indicates they do
ship Internationally. His answer, 'not anymore'

So, no joy with SafeRacer. You know, I don't begrudge a
company's right to decide what they sell and who they sell
it to. But SafeRacer should put their website in order and
have the courtesy to tend to International inquiries until they
do. If I'd known their policy I'd have been looking elsewhere
days ago.

Just had a chat with a nice lady at DiscoveryParts. She has
what I need and it looks like it should be here Thursday or
Friday.

DiscoveryParts has lived up to their promise. The UPS driver stopped
in earlier this afternoon with my DP parcel.

Discovery Parts. Good people, nice selection, fine prices, good to their
word AND THEY ship internationally. You should try them.

Oh, and did I mention that a firm took my order for a custom Fire Suit
and made a commitment to ship tomorrow?

This might all come together, yet.

As it turns out, the answer is yes!

I attempted to contact everyone suggested in the posts to this thread.
Another prospect came from forum member Joe who PM'd me last Saturday
with contact info for Curtis at Finishline Racewear.

In response to my calls and emails, only Victor (VAS) and Curtis
(Finishline) replied. I completed fitment forms for both firms and
Finishline replied early after the holiday on Tues to check a measurement
and say that they would commit to shipping the order this week.

Not only that, they said they could provide all the features I'd
picked out. In my requests, I stated what I would like to have
(colour, features, piping) and invited suppliers to reply with what
they could deliver in the alotted time. Finishline committed to the
full meal deal.

Well, here it is Friday and I have a tracking number and a UPS
delivery guarantee for noon Monday.

Oh, there's a twist that makes my success story bittersweet.

Thieves broke into Finishline last night and cleaned out their
inventory of suits and other gear. My suit was still on a machine
for final stitching and was left behind by the bad guys.

An unfortunate blow for Finishline and the customers whose orders
were ready to ship.

So while I wouldn't recommend that anyone else try to get a suit
in under a week, it can be done.

The suit arrived today.

Looks good, fits well. If they can do this well without even
having me there for measurements, it makes me wonder why
there is always drama associated with ordering a suit for business
- is Nomex available with pinstripes?

Thanks, Finishline!

It would really help in those tough meetings with upper management when you have to explain why such and such project isn't going as planned.
