Default Road America, Sep 17-19

Badger Audi is putting on the HPDE, Mon-Tues event.

anyone going? I'm meeting up with a Z06 buddy of mine and his wife. Club is offering a very special rate on the host hotel as well, the Osthoff Resort/Spa.

Here's the link to their web site, last I heard they still have space left! ...would be great to have a corvette corral

I looked at this. Looks like classroom and instructors for two lower levels. What about more experienced drivers? Are they required to have ride alongs and classroom as well?

that's a good question, I have no idea-this is my first time running with this group.

I've also never been to RA, although I usually run A/B group on other tracks-so I signed up for int.

Todd-awsome, will be good to have some other vettes there

The Audi clubs generally run colored run groups. Blue and Green are novices, Yellow is intermediate and Red is advanced/instructor. Classroom, exercises and ride-along instructors are required for blue and green. If you have not attended a previous Audi HDPE and have never been signed off by an Audi instructor, you will likely be assigned an instructor in the yellow group. Generally, experienced drivers that are not instructors are also put in the yellow group, unless they prove they will be able to run with the instructors.

There will be 2-3 Corvettes from Minnesota (including myself) at RA. All are instructors from the Glacier Lakes Quattro Club.

Hi folks,

i spoke with the event chairman at length before signing up. he explained that, like virtually all car club DE events, ALL drivers will have an instructor assigned, until you have proven you aren't a numbskull who will endanger yourself or anyone else(that's exactly how he put it to me!)

Usually by the first run of the 2nd day, most everyone is stickered solo. Advanced drivers are NOT required to attend the classroom. In fact, instructors and advanced drivers get good track time the a.m. of the first day as novice/intermediates are in clase and doing exercises off-track.

he also explained to me that you don't have to have experience at RA to run advanced. Based on my prior experience, they put me in the advanced group.

Hope we have a few small block, American-made V-8's of the Corvette variety show up!!

If you want just track time without instructors and want to be able to take passengers for a ride along without having to be an instructor yourself, sign up for Speed Seekers (run by the Midwest F-body Association). They have two events a year (April and October). The October (14th & 15th) event still has open spots from what I can see.

http://roadamerica.fbody.us/

The Osthoff is beautiful and it's just minutes from the track. That's where I stay every time I do a track event at RA.

Also.. If you're now near South Bend and can get away during the week, you should do some test and tunes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Gingerman in South Haven, Michigan. You just show up and pay your track fee. It's like going to hit some ***** at the golf range. You are responsible for your own tech.

Here's a mapquest for you. If I lived that close to Gingerman, I'd be there once a week.

Also, the Tire Rack in South Bend has a small track that they use for tire testing. I don't know much information about open track time. I'd look into it though. You can try pm'ing the resident CF Tire Rack rep (Luke) if you want. I'm sure that he wouldn't mind.

Don't forget about Grattan either.

Or.. Putnam Park 30 miles west of Indy.

I'll be doing the MFBA event also. I've done it since 2001 and it's great to be able to have passengers, no club fees, and a tad more laid back atmosphere.

My thoughts as well.

Should see you there Gary! I heard all C6 Z06 drivers were going in the beginner group.
