I'm bored with auto-x.
Heres my problem, ZERO tracks that don't require a 100+ mile commute plus going through NYC traffic and at least 2 bridges. Auto-X really isn't appealing to me since the driver time is less then the amount of time I sit on the can reading the paper. I'm not a drag racer either. I really don't want to get back into the "midnight racer" crowd since half the time its immature and the other half its people too serious.

I routinely travel 100 mi. to WSIR on the day of an event. The trip up isn't bad but it can take 2.5-3 hrs coming back to LA due to evening traffic.
The obvious answer to your question is to drive to the track the night before and stay at Super 8/Motel 6

Honestly, buck up and drive to the track... There's only 1 here within 100 miles... sometimes it's a trip, but always worth it.
I can't say I'll ever get bored doing the track days. The ONLY thing that has held me back at all is budget.

86 miles to AutoX or 100 miles to the N-Ring. I didn't think anything of it until i started towing a trailer with me because it's mostly unlimited autobah, but with a trailer I'm there's a speed limit, so a 1 hour drive is now closer to 2 just part of the deal. I know several guys that drive a lot farther than I do.

I've been track-driving my C5 for almost 3 years now, and the worst parts failure I've had was brake pads and rotors, which I fixed myself at the track.

I drove my old 89 vette to the track for over 3 years and always drove it back home with no issues. But, when I wanted to upgrade to racing tires and brakes, that's when I got a truck and trailer...because the speeds are just so much faster and you tend to stress the car much more.
100 miles though is absolutely nothing (as stated earlier). Anything under 6 hours for me is a piece of cake...too easy. When it gets up to the 10-12 hour trip range is when it gets rough. That's the price you pay though for finding the best tracks in the nation to run on.
I'm not sure where you're located, but you can almost always find a track within about 3 hours of your house. As you do more of these and find you like it, you'll see that a 3-hour trip to get on tracks like VIR or Road Atlanta, etc is a great way to spend a weekend...and your money! Best of luck to you!!!!!!

You are about 100 miles from Pocono or Lime Rock. When I frist went to watch my first HPDE 1998 I looked on the map at Lime Rock 160 miles I thought that's insane. After I watched I couldn't wait to get back in the spring as it was Nov. event. Now it's like going for milk down the block. Tow back to NYC is about 3-400. Rare you will need one. Do it once and your hooked. Pocono has some events and Lime Rock this year. Come and take a look or get a ride. First time I pull into Pocono I was place is huge. Tons of safe fun forget the street it is a waste. My car was a lease
