Default Autocross help! First timer!

A friend of mine is letting me use her 2001 Z06 for an AutoX in 8 days!

I'm more than a little excited.

I've autox'd before, mostly in a 2002 WRX- modded a bit (suspension, and a bit extra power).

Besides the car being a whole new experience for me (oh, i dont know- huge power and torque, lightweight, rear drive, etc), the venue is totally new to me and our local SCCA group as well. Its an old Airport, so i'm dreaming of some area where i can stretch the legs on the Vette.

I dont really know what to ask other than just looking for some tips on how to handle the Z06. (steering input, throttle, braking)

I've been known to go fairly fast, fairly quickly in an autox, but i'm thinking i better work my way up with a car like this.

The car is stock suspension, including ride height. Kumho MX's that look near new. Only mod that i know of is an intake.

What tire pressures should i think about?

I've been away from autox'ing for about 2 years, but i've got a reputation to uphold with all my buddies. So, i cant be a wuss about things.

We dont care much about classification at our AutoX's, basically we have 2 classes- trailered and not!
Car i have to beat- My buddy in his 2006 Lotus Elise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Someday i'll have my own Z06 or FRC.

Thanks,
Rick the Noob.

Good luck.

Gentle on the throttle, don't stab it!! Slow in, fast out.

Start with 40 fronts and 36 rears and adjust from there, IMHO.

Have fun.

Thanks for the info!

I remember my MX's being sorta soft in the sidewall, so that sounds like good info on pressure.

Does your friend mind if you return the car to her with more negative camber, full caster, a little toe-in in the rear and lowered?

Have fun!

I ran 2.2 degrees neg camber on the front of my Scooby for a while

A ran rear toe out on that car too, probably not what the Vette needs

if you can drive proper lines you will be very fast in that car. The next step is to work some throttle-oversteer (or throttle-lift-oversteer as the turn dictates) into the equation for positioning and you'll be super fast.
