Default thermo-tec header wrap. im crazy?

thinking of wrapping my kooks headers with this stuff. cant hurt, right? if anything maybe lower temps a bit and it looks pretty cool.

im going to try it with the headers already on the car. wish me luck. ill post pics if im able to fit my little hands in there.

Don't do it!!! Air flow around the pipes is important too. If you are going to do it, do it right. If you don't do it right, then good luck to you.

A) it is goign to be impossible to do the headers right on the car.....


B) If you are going to take the headers off to "wrap" them, you might as well send them off to be coated.

In addition to that the wrap seems to retain moisture and corrode the headers prematurely. That was what happened to us. Swain coated inside and out. Looks much better too!

Take em off , and get them coated, makes a huge difference in temperatures

Header wrap is great for a short period of time. It greatly reduces heat (ceramic blanket is very good insulator), but the extra heat retained in the metal WILL damage the headers prematurely.

In short, if you have a heat issue, wrap them. If not, let them breath. I personally prefer a good set of uncoated SS headers (like LG's) over anything else. If they are a little too close to an oil line/wiring, then wrap that area only.
