Default New ForgeLine wheels and StopTech brakes from LG Motorsports

Hi guys,

Jeff Ritter @ StopTech was so kind earlier this week to let you in on some new products coming from StopTech including the new front direct replacement two piece AeroRotors for the OEM C6 Z06 brake fitments and the one we have been waiting to be released, the 15" front kit for the Corvette's that we have been using this year on the race cars.

StopTech’s new C6 Z06 direct replacement two piece rotor (pictures coming soon!) uses the same cooling vane design used on Lou Gigliotti’s #28 Corvette to out brake the competition in the SPEED World Challenge GT championship. This patented StopTech design induces 10-20% more cooling air flow than typical curved-vane rotors. AeroRotors are cast for the left and right sides of the car. Benefits to braking performance include reduced tendency to fade brakes under heavy use and increased brake pad and rotor life.

Reducing unsprung weight improves ride quality, handling, acceleration and braking and these rotors will help with that as well. Weight savings vs. the C6 Z06 stock rotors save approximately six pounds per corner.

StopTech’s two-piece, floating rotor design allows the rotor to expand evenly as it is heated, maintaining parallel friction surfaces, rather than coning. This reduces the tendency for radial pad taper wear and promotes consistent performance and pedal feel throughout the service life of a pad set. The AeroRotor’s two-piece design also transfers less heat to the vehicle’s hub and wheel bearings, giving longer service life of these parts before their wear leads to brake pad knockback. This is one feature that you will not find on very many two piece rotor designs, and is often over looked.

StopTech AeroRotor DRKs for the C6 Z06 are available with slotted, or cross-drilled to match the factory cross-drilled rear rotors.

List price is $800 per pair for slotted rotors, $900 per pair for drilled rotors. Replacement friction rings include mounting hardware and are priced the same as StopTech’s standard 355x32mm replacement iron at $245 per side for slotted, $305 per side for drilled. Again StopTech is one of the few that include all new hardware with replacement rings.

Other AeroRotor DRK Applications
StopTech AeroRotor DRKs are available for many other applications, including all C5 Corvettes and non-Z51 C6 Corvettes. Call for details!

We have been working with StopTech and doing testing with the 15" kits now this entire season on our World Challenge cars and have had some great improvements with our already OUTSTANDING braking abilities of the car combined with our new Cobalt Racing brake pads (now in stock for stock and StopTech fitments!). The 15" kits will have all of the same great features that you have come to expect from StopTech. HUGE 6 piston calipers that are one of the leaders in caliper design, cooling, and stiffness. Piston sizes that are matched to your car to improve braking, pedal feel, and minimize pad taper. All mounting brackets, hardware, stainless lines, and pads are included. In each box you will find the GIGANTIC 380x32mm rotors. An impressive sight to behold if you have had a chance to hold one in your hands. Even going 1" larger in diameter than the factory brakes these are still lighter than the factory brakes by over 5lbs each.

New 19" race wheel fitments coming in from ForgeLine.

New from ForgeLine is a 19" fitment of the outstanding ZX3-R wheel that you have seen on many of our cars and the only wheel on our World Challenge race cars. Pair a full set of these up with the new 15" brakes to have a World Class Corvette.

NEW 19" ZX3R

The main focus of ForgeLine are the key elements that are designed for strength and performance. The ZX3R, features optional titanium bolts and mil-spec lightweight K-nuts to reduce weight in the most important area, the perimeter of the wheel. This same hardware is also optional on many of the Premier series wheels as well! The forged 6061-T6 wheel center also has unnecessary aluminum removed to reduce the weight as much as possible without giving up strength.

Before ForgeLine releases a new design, it is tested using computer stress analysis. Then they test the finished products beyond SAE standards and use real-life racing variables.

Why forged you ask? Forging reduces porosity, and increases uniformity in the material, thereby increasing the strength to weight ratio with consistent results. Forging also allows the use of 6061-T6 aluminum. which can be heat treated to be 40% stronger than cast aluminum.

LG Motorsports always leading the way.

Anthony,
I did the ZO6 wide body fenders with CCW C10 13" wide rear 11" wide front 18" wheels on my 2005 Z51.
Thinking about Stoptech 6 pistons fronts 4 piston rears.
Would I need the same Stoptech big brake kit as used on 2006-2008 ZO6?

You would want to order the kit for your car, not the Z06 because there is a change in the master cylinder size which effects piston sizing in the calipers.
