Default Coolant in street vehicles for HPDEs?

For those of you running street cars in HPDEs, is it necessary to change to a water-only coolant?

just add a couple bottles of water wetter and go go go! In Florida, you are probably fine without anti-frieze, but for me it isn't worth the risk of forgetting to winterize things in the fall.

I personally would not run my car without anti-freeze. Besides able to run higher temperatures, it has lubrication in it. I think it would be easier on the car.

Dave, unlike bike events, water only is not necessary. As said above, the antifreeze keeps everything lubricated. The water pump will last longer.

No problem with the proper mix of water and coolant for your car. It should be relatively fresh and be sure to check all of the hoses carefully for any signs of weakness or damage.

You will probably see an increase in coolant temps at speed so having a cooling system in good shape is important.

Thanks for the replies. I'm actually "water only" now, but I was looking at the Evans coolant and they have a couple of different ones depending on what the track rules require.

I normally just run about 10-15% coolant; but don't fool with those "additives" like water wetter, etc. They don't work...and I've tested just about all of them! I'm in North Carolina fairly close to Dave and I just want to be sure I have some in there for when it does drop below freezing.
