Default I am not virgin anymore The ring has been testet

I had my first lap around Nurburgring omg it is unreal,,, i mean all the video and films i have watched does not give this track credit.

IT IS AWSOME, the way camber change, elevation change, hight difference etc.

I met a nice guy in a Yellow 2006 Z06, he asked if i would sit in one lap, and i said ok.
Turns out he is a professional driver in VLN, 6 hour and 24 hour race on the ring, for BMW team.
He drives a complete lap around 8 min in his stock Z06, BTG is around 27 second more for those who would compare times done on public days

So my course starting monday seem to be exciting :-)
Hope the car holds up

Gotta run and eat.....

I'm jealous. Last time I was there fog closed the long track, so I had to spend my afternoon beating my rental car on the shorter Grand Prix track. Had fun, but I kept getting smoked by Porsches and crotch rockets. Maybe next time....

Life time experience guaranteed

I will try to find the gentlemans name in the yellow Z06 offering me the ride of a lifetime.
Stock Z06 under 8 min complete lap, and Jan does it in 7.42 , its fantastic
I have read and made comments about Z06 be able to be faster with R rated tires etc. no i have a hard time to believe its human possible

But it possibly is

R rated tires will cut times by about 8-16 seconds a lap.

Randy
PS I asked on a different thread, who is your engineer over there. I am looking for someone good in the UK for a customer??? Do you know "crazy" Paul with a C5 supercharged??

i must have missed your post, i am not that much online while i am down here.
Sorry Randy i dont know any good one in UK, i live in Norway.
I will post some of this in another post also....but here is the basis of my saturday on the ring

I got help from a great guy, close to the ring, Tom helped me align my car.
We spent 6 hours due to the fact he had to learn how my car adjust, and that my previous alignment was WAY OFF.
Last alignement was done by super duper expensive laser 4 wheel alignment tool.
That tool has to be off by a mile, Tom is the old school and used water, measurement tape, ruler, and rope.
He normally sets up race cars.

My right hand side was close to 3/4 of an inch shorter wheelbase than left side
And my rear toe in was 2,6 inch left side and 3,8 inches in on the right hand side,,,,, doubble

I complained about the car beeing nervous and completely bad to drive, i drove it down from Norway 600 miles and my rear tires are completely ruined.
He noticed my tires and said something was very wrong....., he was right-
Anyway, a good old setup, he started from scratch and we found the center line of the car and adjusted the rear carrier/tire position from this, and moved foreward.
BTW, he said NOT to use the adjustments to force lot of camber, it changes too much of the geometri of the rest of the car.
So we removed washer to get the wanted camber.

He set me up for something not perfect for street, but close, and concentrated alignment for the ring.
Camber LF 2.4 RF 2.8
Camber LR 1.5 RR 1.8

Toe in front 1/20 of an inch(almost neutral)
Toe in Rear 1/10 of an inch
MAX caster, dont know but equal.

He corner weighted my car and got what he call PERFECT.
He has race cars (BMW) NOT beeing able to get this good.
He sets up DTM cars and another class racing at the ring 6 hours race and 24 hour race.
Tom was IMPRESSED, i think we have converted a Beemer guy, i think he will build a Corvette ring racer next

My car has a front axle weight 3 pounds off my rear axle weight
AND 50% crossweight.
Me in the car and 3/4 tank of gas, (well almost.)
Total weight was 3320.
Height is a little off, ie not equal side to side and a little higher than i prefer, but i dont care, i got a nice balanced car.
Rake is 3/4 inch

After this the car was completely different, no more nerveous jumps and just plain noce to drive.

THANK you TOM.....

Sorry I was a little off, I thought that you had someone from the UK help you set it up.

Your setup looks very good!!! We still have the fancy string, and tape measure. It may take a lot longer, but if it work, spend the time.
