Default Life Expectancy of Nitto NT01 Tires?

Nothing specific came up in a search.

C5 Z06 (stock size wheels) 275/40 17 F, 315/30 18 R
I have 6 total track events on them.
4 trips back and forth to the track (about 52 miles roundtrip)
2 trips back and forth to the track (about 360 miles roundtrip)

The rears def. look like they have a track day left in them. The fronts there is no tread left, and only a hint of the holes towards the outside lip.

I am debating whether to buy new tires and scrap the old ones, or run one more track day.

My reluctance to go ahead and get new tires is the same issue I had last year. I will do 1 or 2 more events this season before the tires get put away till next March/April.

Thoughts?

I have like 50 heat cycles on mine, maybe 15 track days and a bunch of aucto crosses.

Flip them inside out and you should be good for another season.

They go way past not showing tread.

I understood that the NT-01 tires were multi-directional, but had a clear inside and outside (tire says this side out) and could not be swapped on the rim.

If this is untrue, and the tires can be swapped on the rim... I would concur I could get a few more events out of them for sure.

Thanks for the input.

They can be swapped and the tread can actually be shaved off - I had to shave 2 when they got flat spotted at CMP when I had ABS issues...

I have 5 trackdays on them and they still stick fine...

I think the front tires were about $250 each, or $500 for the pair. Cost per track day for those front tires is $500/7 or $71. So the most you can lose by replacing them now rather than squeezing one more day out of them is $71. On the other hand, how unhappy will you be if they don't last through the day, or the weekend? In those situations, my choice is to buy a new set and enjoy not having to worry about it. It's like when you were a kid, and you got a new pair of sneakers even though the old ones weren't quite worn out yet. You just feel good with new shoes.

I always waited till my wife or mom threw my old sneakers away because they were falling apart.

If you can't see cords they are good for at least two sessions

I run them to the cord - but I have multiple sets of wheels - so will most people who get the addiction. Between digging out the pads with the most "pad" and tires with the most "life" I keep myself fairly busy in the paddock...

Unless you are running competition where I have been beat by .017 seconds - run them to the cord unless you have a big tire budget...

You will be great in the wet if you do...

I had the 555RII's which lasted 8 road course events and 2500 street miles. Didn't see cords, but recently put the NT01's on.

I have 1 track day on them, and have 2 comments: 1. The NT01's seem to wear better than the 555RII's for the first track event, 2. The NT01's stick much better.
(Both sets of tires had their first day at Moroso)

I am projecting 10 events out of the them.

7 hard days here on NT-01's and I'm sure they have at least 3 more in them.

6 track days, about 3,000 miles and over 50 heat cycles.

I still have some tread left and plenty of rubber left.

They still seem to stick pretty good.

I think it may be the bang for the buck track tire.

I paid $197 for 275/40-17 and $225 for 315/35-17 delivered (Discount Tire) - best deal on track tires I have available to me at the moment. They are also a 5 point tire in NASA instead of a 10 point tire.

They do not stick as well as new Kumho 700's or Hoosier R6s but they seem to stick better longer..

I have absolute and utter faith in your ability to wear "any" tire down

I am probably going to convert over to NT-01's for my TTA cars also....

I actually just order a set of Hankooks 214s, that was before I head about the GRM article, I hear the NT-01s did very well, especially for a 5 pt tire.

Hopefully I'll get my issue tomorrow

I heard the same thing about the GRM article. Mine, also, has not arrived yet.

Guess I will be reading another car mag on my flights to Chicago this AM...
