Default Need suggestions for track tires

I really want to get some CCW wheels for my 99 but don't want to spend the money right now (other mods more pressing).

I have the stock wagon wheels and Pilots on there right now.
I was thinking of going with 18x10.5 C5 Z06 wheels all the way around until I can get the CCWs.

I want to run a wider tire than the stock ones.
Plus I want a better looking wheel than the wagon wheels.

What brand and size tires do y'all suggest for these rims?
I'm thinking either Hoosier R6 or Michellin Pilot Sport Cup tires.

17x11 GS wheels will get you into cheaper tires with more options...

I'm running Z06 rears all around so I could run WCGT scrubs. I'm looking at the GS 17x11's now but probably for autocross when I move to ASP from SS. The NT-01 in 17" sizes is $100/tire cheaper IIRC so if you plan to run new tires, thats a better choice unless you plan to upgrade your brakes?

18x10.5 Z06 rims with used slicks from Bob Chick. Cheap and works great! They also clear big brakes if that matters.

I don't have big brakes - at this time.

I like the idea of 17x11 and less expensive tires.
But I may upgrade to big brakes in the next couple of years - after I get CCWs. If I buy 18x10.5 wheels now, I can use them in the future and have a backup set of tires (or wet tires) at the track.

Just trying to think ahead....but I'm still open to 17x11.

The CCW C14 Corsairs are great when you have the $$$. Used up a set of MPSC and am now working on a set of R6. The R6 seems to have higher grip but I am not sure how it will last. Time will tell...

With R compound tires you will probably need more brakes quickly.

Not sure about sizes for your car...

[QUOTE=SS Racing;1561419353]I don't have big brakes - at this time.

Option II;

Good after market race pads; I use PFC 01's with Napa Rotors.

Bobby Archer "Hoosier" Viper Scrubs; 305x18 & 335x18. I get a good 3 to 4 weekends on one set. My C5 works very well on this setup.

good luck

C4 GS replica wheels and buy used tires from T1 guys for ~$250-$300 a set.

if you get 17x9.5s for the front, you can use 275/17 v710s or A6/R6s in 275/17 or 295/17.

for the back 17x11 with 315/17s

I'm trying Hawk HP+ pads right now.
What size wheels are you running with those tires?

Where do you get the scrubs?

Because I only do 3 or so track weekends a year, I went with C5Z type wheels from Bob's House of Wheels. I run stock size rear "Z" wheels up front (10.5x18) and his "No Tub" 12" wide for the rear. Some friends I run with use the 305's all around on rear "Z" wheels, work very well also!

Best to check your supply of tires first, then buy wheels to match. Common price for a set of Scrubs is $200 -$300 for a full set plus shipping. I'm lucky, Archer is only 10 minunts from the house and I get to hand pick my tires.

Good luck
