Engine oil for HPDE's

Just one HPDE? Run stock oil, just a bit more of it. C5s tend to like a half a quart more than normal at HPDEs with lots of lateral Gs. I used to run Amsoil 0w30, and it lasted very well.
More HPDEs a year? Lots of folks switch to a heavier 10w40 oil. It takes longer to warm up, and in colder climates, I'd have stayed with the 0w30.
That's what I did, your milage (and oil life) may vary. Just watch your temps and pressure.

For use outside warranty requirements, I use AMSOIL SAE 10w40 Marine Synthetic Motor Oil. This oil meets API SL standards, the standard prior to the current, more restrictive API SM standard put limits on an oil's primary anti-wear additive, ZDDP. This oil has a very high High Temp High Shear rating of 4.6 (actually the same as the heavier Mobil 1 EP 15w50), and has the added benefit of having anti-rust additives which helps my only occasionally driven car.
My next option would be: AMSOIL SAE Synthetic High Performance 10w40
For cars under warranty, I'd consider: AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30
