Wheel sizes for track and autox
I'm no longer in SS and restricted to the stock wheel sizes of a 01Z - which to me is a spare set of 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 wheels. Also, I have a set of four 18x10.5s I use for scrub track tires. I'm debating if its worth selling off the two sets to go two sets of 17x11 all around. I probably could break even on the wheels and the tires seem cheaper all around. The down side I immediately recognize is I will no longer be able to run the 18" scrubs I have been using. However I would be able to use the 17" NT-01s which seem like a great deal. In my testing of RA-1s back to back with V710s I was about .6 seconds faster on the v710 on a 35 second course so I may be tempted to going to a single dual use tire like the NT01.
Are there any other pluses or minuses I am not thinking of? Any other ideas of tire sizes?

IMO it comes down to if you want to run scrubs or new tires. New tires I'd lean towards the 17" solution; scrubs I'd run 18s all around.
Right now I'm running the standard ZR-1 repo setup: 17x9.5 and 17x11. I'm debating about going to rear Z06 wheels all around when I step up to Hoosiers/V710s.
We're a hard bunch to satisfy, huh?
Have a good one,
Mike

Well that is a distinct thing I am considering, keeping the 18" set just for that purpose. Then getting *gasp* two sets of 17" wheels, one for autox and one for faster track tires... I can't wait to explain to the little woman why this is such a smart idea.

Yup I'll be there. Jerry will be there in his 02Z06 as well. We are trying to get into the 1:28s with the cooler weather. I'm anxious to see your new vette!

Thanks Tom,
It's rough, but it's a good start for now, hopefully by early next year it'll be competitive! Yeah, Jerry says he's hoping to run hard.
I just need to learn the way a Vette handles, and forget my Subie knowledge!

Makes sense. I'm looking at going to 4 sets of wheels from the 3 I already have. do 335/17 fit in the back of the Z06 without rubbing the brake ducts or wheel wells?

If you run the 335's in the rear the ducts will hit if you don't use spacers you can run the wheels if you get the proper offset I have CCw Classics 11.5 on the rears without spacers they are very closer and if you have a very aggresive course you can get alittle rubbing so i just use the spacers and i'm ok. I'm sure if you got proper offsets you could run with the Ducts and everything I haven't run the ducts in my car for some time. i forget to put them back on when i can. I don't get to many Road courses so i kinda space it when i do go
