The state of racing in the USA
Sebastien Bourdais, with six victories in 12 starts, has all but wrapped up his fourth consecutive Champ Car title and he’s raked in a paltry $611,000 for Newman/Haas/Lanigan.
Champ Car winner/NASCAR rookie A.J. Allmendinger has missed 17 of 29 races, ranks 44th in the point standings and has amassed $995,632.
As an added insult, Mike Wallace has one Cup start this season and has taken in $4,000 more than Bourdais.

What ever happened to Paul Tracy's attempt @ Busch/NASCAR?
Also makes me wonder if IRL is paying their drivers much better. I don't watch IRL but when I have tuned into a race, it seems like the cameras go out of their way to not show empty seats.
If you take out indy 500 attendance numbers, the IRL cannot be doing any better than Champ Cars.

I guarantee that Bourdais will not be payed more than $300,000 to $500,000 in F1.
He'll be driving for a backmarker team and essentially be a rookie.
Not surprised that Champ Car is CRAP. I mean Scott Speed isn't even giving it a chance and he has never been in a stock car in his life.
Nascar certainly has the moneeeeey.

Both the IRL and Champ Car have basically turned into a ride buyer series. That's not good because it makes it dangerous for the other drivers to be out there with other drivers (Milka Duno for example) that aren't up to skill level that they need to be. It's even more dangerous in the IRL where they are inches away from each other on ovals at over 200 mph.

This is also true of F1. The drivers bring the sponsors and are paid a percentage of the sponsorship. Schumacher was paid about 10% of the money from Marlboro or $60Millions...

but what he didn`t say was how many don`t need to get paid and how many pay for their seats (most of them)...or should I say how many of their daddy`s pay for their seats.....

just my guess http://www.speedtv.com/commentary/28732/
Many drivers soon find out that the bunch of Circle dirt track ex-hooch running team owners and their protégées sons of a driver, drivers, know a thing or two about going fast.
It is not as easy as it looks.
