Default DTE Differential In Record Setting Corvette At Bonneville Salt Flats!!

We are very pleased to announce the results of our participation as the custom differential supplier for a record setting Corvette that has just returned from the Bonneville Salt Flats World Finals in Utah. We would also like to congratulate Mr. Pilgrim and crew for a great, successfull record-breaking effort!!

A number of months ago, we were contacted to supply a specilized IRS differential that would support very high speeds and endure extreme heat that's common to Bonneville- as well as, withstand the high stresses of a twin turbocharged 441 LSx engine in a Corvette application.

We built him a custom racing IRS differential equipped with low-drag custom bearings/races, light weight lubricant, altered bearing oiling metering, unique assembly set-up to sustain very high speed operation, custom high gearing gearing, etc. etc. among other things... Ultra-low parasitic drag is the key here for this application and his target is 200+ MPH on the long run.

The Corvette set a new high speed record for his class at 236.664 MPH average where it *CRUSHED* the old record in that class of 212.055 MPH!!

Our differential performed flawlessly and he'll be running the car in a couple of road-based high speed race events using this same differential before Bonneville next year. We're already preparing him a custom differential for next years season now.

We would like to thank Mr. Pilgrim for choosing DTE to supply him a high performance Corvette IRS differential for this unique application and we look forward to building on that success using information/data we've learned in professional racing applications by expanding our HD driveline product presence in other unique racing area venues in the future that we're working on now.

Our congratulations to him, his car and his crew for a job well-done! As anyone knows who's competed at Bonneville, securing ones' self in the Elite 200 MPH Club is an outstanding achievement!!

I want one! How would it do for daily driving at break-neck speeds of 55 - 65 MPH? :o

Well Done DTE!

Default Update~

Here are a few more pictures sent to us from our customer. We now have in-car videos of the event and once we get them edited for time, we'll post them as well.

This car, running our custom differential engineered specifically for this application, ran a total of 12 WOT passes @ 5 miles per pass, which equals 60 miles at 200+ speeds in a severe environment of heat, stress and abuse, (purposefully ran low on lubricant w/ very lightweight oil to reduce parasitic drag) all while setting 2 National Land Speed Records in the process...

Now THAT'S track-proven, record-setting DTE IRS Differential durability!!

Sorry, I know this is an old thread :P

Is that an STS kit? It almost looks like the STS turbos sitting behind the rear tires... Anyone know?

We're not certain what brand of power adder turbo system he's using for his car, but we suspect a lot of it's design is custom fabricated.

As a side bar~
We built him another unique, custom DTE Corvette IRS Differential for this year that is designed for high speed, extreme heat desert operation and he'll be competing at the Bonneville Salt Flats World Finals in a couple of weeks.

He's added more power to this year's combination in an effort to break his own previous World Land Speed record using our driveline products of 236.xxx MPH in his class and the target is 250+ MPH, which he had the capability to do last year, but time ran out as the weather conditions soured.

We wish him the best of luck in his racing endeavors and we look forward to assisting him once again in setting another World Land Speed Record using DTE Powertrain Corvette IRS Driveline Products!

We'll keep you posted.

Regards,
Phil

Wow, that's amazing! And it has to feel good knowing your product is such an integral part of his combination

I'd love to know what the sensation of speed is like on the salt... I live in Salt Lake, and was on the road working and didn't get a chance to make it to speed week recently. One of these days, I'll have to make it out for sure.

Congrats to him though, and good luck on his next pass!
