LTF Info on (Polyvoltac sponsored?) IMSA turbo Corvette
I've been looking at some old IMSA stuff on the computer, but have struck out trying to find some technical info on the short lived turbo Corvette that ran in IMSA for a while. Can anyone help me out here?

I think you mean the Corvette GTP...V6 turbo...raced in the late '80s (IMSA GT/GTP & Trans Am races).
If so try doing a search on "Corvette GTP". This is what I came up with:
http://www.corvette.nl/specials/GTP.html
http://www.4-lesco.com/pages4/car4sale6.html
Good luck,

We played around with IMSA for a year or so. http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z12221/default.aspx
Callaway did the motor stuff and we built the chassis. Boris Said did most of the driving.

I apologize, I should have been more specific. I believe it was a ProtoFab car and ran in the GTO class. I keep striking out looking on the usual search engines.
Thanks again.

My friend builds replica's of the old Corvette GTP just in case your interested. He has some knowledge of the old IMSA GTO,GTU stuff I believe.

In 1980 and 81 C-3 twin turbo Vettes were competing in the IMSA series. I bought the 81 TT lightweight front end and cloned it onto my 79.
The thinner fiberglass front ends were a 150 lbs reduction

Polyvoltac sponsored Corvette
I worked for Polyvoltac in the 1980's and we had two Vettes running IMSA. If you have any questions about these cars, you can find Paul Dallenbach on Facebook and ask him. He was a back up driver and his brother Wally drove the #5 car.

I'm one of the fourteen people on Earth who's not on facebook, but perhaps I can ask my wife to look for Paul Dallenbach's account there.
Thanks again,

Thanks, friend. I was always curious about the turbo engine, but have never seen any underhood pictures or any technical details about it.

1987 Protofab Corvette V6 Turbo
Mike,
I know I'm a few years late to this thread, but we own the car now and just finished the restoration on it recently. It ran for the first time in decades this last weekend at Monterey with Ron Fellows driving after a several year restoration by Dan Binks.
Here is an in car video: https://racer.com/2023/08/19/750hp-1...Y0MSPDFzJOec6U
I know this car is a bit of a mystery so I'm happy to answer any questions you have about it. And yes, you are correct it ran in the Polyvoltac livery in '88, in '87 it was Mobil 1, which is the livery we put back on it. It always ran as the #2, but they had an identical V8 chassis they used for the longer races due to reliability issues with the turbo, so looking at old pictures the only obvious visual cue is the exhaust on the V6 is right behind the front wheel whereas the V8 exits right in front of the rear wheel.
I'll post some more pictures tomorrow when I get a chance.

Been busy working on my car so I hadn't checked in as much as usual, but I'll keep an eye out for any thread updates.
Thanks!
