There were quite a few guys who dug World Rally races when they were on SpeedTV.

Yeah, whats the deal with that?

They should rename the Speed channel, "NASCAR CHANNEL"

I agree. I really like some of the yearly compilation videos that are out there too. Check out the videos at the bottom of this page:

Hey Ed:

You and I should enter one of the local rally-crosses. We just need to steal a Subie or Evo.

DONT say things like that to me. It is way too tempting.

I just got done watching Dust to Glory on HBO about the Baja 1000. Its really got me going.

(BTW, we could pick up a slightly used EVO, cage it, beef the suspension, you drive, Ill call the course)

See what youve done?

You are not alone.

I too am a member of the 'Whatever Happened to WRC on SpeedTV'
crowd that AU N EGL refers to.

I'm bummed that Speed doesn't have the WRC anymore. At least they're still showing Aussie V8 Supercars beginning Dec1.

I really enjoy rally - it has to be a lot of fun in either seat. I was pleased to see Speed cover the Targa New Zealand last weekend (though they seem to have dropped Targa Newfoundland ) - it sure beat the Speed coverage of the Monterey (sic?) Historics....

I love rally racing, if it weren't for my allergies I would do more of it. The problem is, I race in a rally-x on the dirt and I can't breath for 2-4 days after. I have won a couple events with different cars, which is fun. The 2 wheel drive guys and gals normally win FTD. The 4wd guys are pretty heavy and have a hard time in the tight stuff. But once they get opened up, then the 4wd guys kick butt.

Minnesota has a huge rally crowd, Rally America is based out of a office less then a mile from were I grew up.

Now for stage rally.
The other problem is the prep and crew needed to run a event is crazy. You have to be ready for anything inbetween stages and need a crew waiting for you. And yes the more the better. I think event fees have gone up to 2 grand + a weekend. Car prep and damage is crazy too. But if you have the cash, crew and gonads

Randy
PS I turned down a CO-driver position

I never looked at it like that, I am calling my cable company right away and tell my wife that from now on she is to save money and buy Smirnoff instead of Grey Goose.

Hello Hoosiers !!!

I got hooked a few years ago when I started watching the Dakar coverage - it's on the outdoor life network now and the race is coming up in 2 months. It's not a conventional rally but it's a week of good TV.

went to Rally GB a couple of years ago. amazing event! we where stood on the inside of a right hand bend with cars flying past about 6ft away form us! you could see the drivers and co-drivers eyes we where that close!

the car controle is amazing (helped alot these days by the 3 electronic diffs they use)! again stood mear ft form the cars doing over 100mph down sections of road you would do at about 10mph. the cars where dancing all over the place, some getting VERY sideways, and then turnbing into a corner....simply amazing.

here is the place to search for them...enjoy

I think Rally drivers- are the best drivers in the motorsport. Car handling is just amaising.
