Default C4 suspension question

92 Lt1 Z07, can't get any negative camber on drivers side front.
Best the alignment guy could do is +0.6*, that side has no shims to remove. Passenger side has a bunch of shims.

Suggestion the car might have been in an accident, I don't see any evidence.

My question is - how can I check if it was in an acident? Any measurements I can take? Can I bend the upper support inboard some to get some negative camber?

Suspension is going to rebuilt this winter and I'd like to get some negative camber when I get it alinged afterwards.

Thanks in advance

Wow, something is seriously wrong if you can only get down to +.6. You can grind the spacers down to get a little more, but I think your engine cradle is damaged or something.

The drivers side on the C4 is always a problem. Every C4 suffers from this lack of DS camber.
I have a control arm where I filed down the convex nubs for the spacers, and this allows me to use shims instead of spacers.
You can have it for $80 if you like.

Or else go aftermarket to an adjustable control arm.

The passenger side is always acceptable without shims.

You can also get the lower control arm offset bushings from Vette Brakes and Products. I am going to grind down the spacers next.

You could check with one of the carfax type services.

One other thing that might help is to install an RD Racing camber brace. When I installed mine I saw the subframe that the A-arms attach to move significantly.

I would take it to a body shop with a good frame rack and have it measured. I had mine checked once and it wasn't very expensive, I think he charged me $100 to check it.

if the frame's tweeked, you never going to get it to run right.

CarFax is clean, no accidents on the report, no mileage issues.

I'll add a trip to the body shop over the winter to have the frame checked.

Thanks for the ideas, keep em comming.

On my 1992 the max I got on the drivers side (before machining the alum bushings) was just shy -1.25-now I am at about -1.5

As was stated here (prior post) the drivers side is less than the pass side-this was the case with my car also. How much was the pass side?

I plan on new springs and lowering the front and rear. Lowering the front will also increase negative camber.

When you checked-was the suspension fully settled?

This is pretty much normal in varying degrees-no pun intended. All c4's are camber challenged. I did both the grinding of the concave spacers and installation of the offset bushing in the lower control arms. Now I have adequate negative camber.

Use the Vette Brakes offset bushings and file the spacers if need be. As long as you can get the camber you want, match both sides and the allignment is square the frame is a non issue. The car will "run" just fine.
