Default Sears Point 11/19, just for the record ...

Well, it was a little wet in the AM after the first sessions
got done, only a damp track at first, not surprising with
the fog to the north of the track in view as I arrived.
The skies didn't exactly open, the beads of water on the
windows were all about the size of a pin head, just mist
in volume, enough to wet things good. I skipped the
second session as did several others, Chris in his vintage
mid-year even pulled back into the trailer. But then
things got better for most.

TrackMasters got notice about an open Monday about
ten days before and put out the word. Took them less
than a week to get the minimum to make it pay and
things were on. I'm guessing there were about 75
cars there in three groups. Talked briefly with Tom in his
T-1 C5 Yellow car and even tried to stay with him some
as things started to dry out. He was gone as soon as it
was dry. Chris was having fun in his Nassau Blue mid-
year and it sounded great, gotta love real race cars.
Didn't talk to Chuck in his red C6 but word came back
that he enjoyed dicing with the GT-40 rep's in his group.
I just tried to stay out of the way in the A group running
my stock LS-1 w/street tires, but was surprised
since I did seem to reel in a few other marques and get
past a few. Last time I ran with TM at Sears Point I
passed one car all day. There was one Masarati coupe
that looked like a full size car that was really blowing
by folks. After talking to the guy in the pits, it was
a factory race prep of a 3600lb car down to 3100 with
full roll cage and race set up and 425HP. Nice ride.

I think all the Vettes got away clean, the silver 911 in
he third session wasn't so lucky. I went out late since it
was just starting to dry and got into the front of the line
waiting to clear a black flag for a Spec Miata. On my out
lap, I was going easy behind another SM and there were
some dry spots out around turn 7 so it was looking
better. Then when we got to start/finish, the black was
out again and we went around with standing yellow to
the turn 7 flagger who was waving hers. Made the
sweep into eight and there is the red truck with a 911
driver out of his car, surveying the pieces of his rear
facia that scraped off along the tire barrier at the
outside of 8a, one esse before Jr's fire. He drove it in so
it seems to have been a light hit, although he was
probably 50+ feet from the track surface.

There were several other Vettes there, and as usual, I
didn't get around to say hi but I'm sure everyone had a
great day, just like I did.
