Pretty cool! I've seen stories on cars actually run on compressed air. They have huge compressed air storage tanks and the engine is run strictly on air pressure. The only downside to that design is that you have to fill the tanks with compressed air. If you could somehow come up with a way to recharge the air tanks, you'd have a complete loop without having to use any fuel source at all.
I love this design because it looks like it just makes the standard combustion engine much more efficient. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch from what we have now and wouldn't be such an adjustment to those that resist any new technology that is created to save natural resources and help the environment.

Interesting but there will be frictional losses with an extra piston. I wonder what advantages a split cycle engine has over an otto cycle.
