Default 2002 Z06 Track Car getting closer to being finished

I updated my website on this car on 11/23 before I went out of town last week, but I thought I'd start a new thread on this car.

The Warhawk engine is built, just waiting on a Tilton clutch assembly to arrive. Bob

Bob's (EPP) been working on this project with me. Great job.

I also have been working, with Kerry(good call) and have purchased the Z11 body kit, world challenge hood, rear wing, front splitter and some other key mods.

As for cage and suspension, I'm going to install coil overs (Moton or JRZ 3 way) and Pdapt sway bars, plus full Nascar type cage.

Will post addl info and pics as the car takes shape. Should be a ton of fun.

My driving mentor, Shorthrow has been tremendous and also helped us along the process.

Why use a motor plate? What are you doing w/ the front crossmember etc?

Good call, it is a Daly. The garage is looking tremendous. Mike and Don have really done an amazing job. Can't wait to move in!

The use of a motor plate ties the engine directly into the chassis, making the whole platform much more rigid.
Engine plates also eliminate torque roll of engine within frame as experienced with stock type mount. Bob

A Dodge NASCAR engine during assembly in the engine shop at Bill Davis Racing. You can see the motor plates attached to the front of the engine. Bob

^ Cool... the benefits make sense... motor tied directly into chassis, no rocking back and forth etc

A lot of race car builders solid mount the engine and use the engine as a integral part of the chassis structure. Bob

I like the Daly dry sump. Does anyone know where I can get more information on them?

They're pretty close lipped in general advertising, but are good folks to talk to. http://www.daileyengineering.com/

IIRC, the long pump butts up against the steering rack, and the short pump won't clear the factory engine mounts. Either problem are fairly easy to solve (move the rack, or use engine plates / fab a slightly different engine mount bracket).

The pan and pumps are both top-notch work, tho . . . and used on quite a few folk use the Dailey pans. The ARE pan doesn't even compare IMO . . . the Dailey pan is worth the extra $$$ and some.

The Tilton clutch has arrived!

Now it's time to get the engine, transmission and rear installed back into the car. I'll add more pictures as the drivetrain goes back together, which will take us several days. Bob

It does not look good. I have all the pic's stored, but it will take 10+ hours to redo everything. Bob
