295/30-18 FRONT Tires (C6): What Camber?
For those who are running 295/30-18 front tires on a C6 (non-Z06), what is the "minimum" camber required to preclude rubbing on the front fenders? I've read that -1 deg. is not enough, and the -1.5 deg. is probably OK. Is -1.2 deg. enough camber?
Are there any other issues with using 295/30-18 front tires? Any comments about how well these work on the track? Thanks!

I love my 295s on 18x11. I have a little rub on the inner fender liner lip. It's been suggested that I just grind that down a bit. Worry more about getting even tire temps than the rubbing. IIRC when I ran -1.2deg or so I had minor rubbing, not enough to worry about.
Toyo R888s for me.

295mm ~= 11.6in; Toyo puts the 10in wide rim as the minimum for holding their R888 in that size. 18x11 just seemed to open up some choices in the future, too, since everybody loves the 315 square 17in set up.

I would think that: (1) the 18x11 wheels would weigh more, and (2) you can't go wider than a 295mm tire without Z06 front fenders (the Z06 nose is not required). So, are you thinking a wide body kit, at least in the front?

A lot of folks run 315s without a wide-body kit. Often on wheels that don't have the correct backspacing for the C6 (like C5Z 18x10.5 rears). Mostly John@CCW recommended 18x11s as the best performing package right now.

Stock the car understeers. 295+305 has left me with a pretty balanced set up on the C6. I'm running the stock front Z51/Z06 bar, with a base model rear bar. I really like how it feels-- just make sure you have 'enough' rear toe-in.

tire rub on Hoosiers will make short work of a expensive set. I had to cut my fenders over 3/4" higher even with 1200 lb springs. I thought I was having camber problems until I saw a thread of rubber hanging on the fender and noticed it was machining my fender very nicely.

Glen, what you're saying is that you needed less rear sway bar ("a base model rear bar"). I've been thinking of using adjustable Pfadt "Z51" (not competition) bars. That way I could get more roll stiffness front & rear and, based on your advice here, dial back on the rear bar. Thanks for the tip!

That's a personal preference thing. I ran the car before going to the CCW+Toyo combo with Pfadt Pfatty bars, too... full stiff front, full soft rear. You'll probably end up wanting something different to find the balance that works for you.
Dont forget, RAFTRACER found at the NASA Nationals that he had to add an even stiffer front bar to a car that had been "perfect" in the past...
