Most Likely to Partner w/ Hamilton in 2008
My vote is that McLaren either makes an offer for Kubica's release
that BMW can't refuse or they bring in a new face.

Well.......................since Hakkinen has strong ties to McLaren and to Ron Dennis personally, I hear that Mika Hakkinen will partner with Lewis Hamilton in 2008!................But what do I know;-)

Hakkinen in '08. Well, turns out that is one category I hadn't
anticipated: a returning former F1 driver.
When I discovered DTM coverage on SpeedTV, I enjoyed watching
MH driving for Mercedes in this series. However, I have read that when
he tested for McLaren at Barcelona (11/06) he was a few seconds off
the then current F1 pace. Time will tell whether Hakkinen takes up
beside LH for the new season.
About Coulthard. Everyone seems to feel there is no way he would
return to McLaren. Besides, he and Webber have signed with RB for
'08 and they have rolled out their merchandise lines. Still, it is a pity
- during testing a few days ago at Jerez, Spain, Coulthard was second
at 1:19.421 80 in his RB-Renault to Hamilton's first at 1:19.371 73 in the
McLaren. That greybeard still has the fire in him ...

I supposed his departure is more a result of Alonso's doing than because
Renault wanted to release him.

F1: Kovalainen Confirmed at McLaren
by: RACER staff London, UK – 12/14/2007
After admitting earlier in the day that it found Heikki Kovalainen an "interesting" option for 2008, the McLaren-Mercedes squad confirmed late Friday that the Finn had been signed as Lewis Hamilton’s new teammate at McLaren for next year.
The Finn joins the Woking-based outfit on a long-term deal after an impressive debut season with Renault, and McLaren management says it is convinced that he and Hamilton will make a “formidable” combination for 2008. His selection was strongly tipped after Kovalainen found himself out of a job at Renault when the team opted for Nelson Piquet Jr. to be Fernando Alonso’s new teammate, but he had been connected with the seat since Alonso's departure from McLaren was announced. Indeed, RACER's Adam Cooper named him as the most likely replacement for Alonso back on November 9.
The team also confirmed that Pedro de la Rosa will remain as third driver, with Gary Paffett staying on board as tester.
“We had a number of options open to us and as always we want to make sure that we have the most competitive driver lineup,” McLaren F1 CEO Martin Whitmarsh said. “I think that Lewis and Heikki will be a formidable combination. Both enjoyed great rookie seasons in 2007 and share a genuine passion for winning and being the best. Heikki made a strong impression and Lewis’ performance so far has been outstanding and speaks for itself.

Fantastic!!
I didn't think they'd go for Heikki Kovalainen as they would need experience in development.
I guess Lewis is better in regards to development and feedback than I assumed.

My vote is for Heikke as well.
Edit: I just saw Joe's post as well. McLaren definitely made the right choice and Renault is going to be kicking themselves when they realized what got away from them IMO. The only thing that I can think of why they went with Piquet Jr. was maybe Alonso didn't want a repeat of what he had to deal with at McLaren last season with Hamilton. Piquet is a true rookie and I don't think that he will be competing with Alonso at all.
Besides... What is McLaren without a Flying Finn?
