Default Hood ventilation project underway [lots of pics]

This is the kevlar/carbon overlay hood I bought a few months back, with intentions of ventilating it and installing it on my '99 vette. I was wanting to help get the underhood temps down a little, and I didn't want to destroy my stock hood.

Now that I've finished ventilating it, I'm glad I didn't destroy my stock hood, because this thing looks beautiful and bada$$ all in one.

The hood is actually 5lbs. lighter than a stocker too. I believe the carbon fiber part is just the exterior surface shell, and all the rest of the hood and structure is the kevlar component.

I can't wait to get some pics of it on my car.

This picture just says "Terminator" to me.

I'm gonna put some tape on the hood to make a big evil grin to go along with these evil looking eyes.

Now I may add some kind of screens or screening to keep out small animals and children.

Any suggestions for screening or whatnot would be appreciated.

To anyone looking to duplicate my efforts, the hood only cost $300 +$150shipping.

Someone should cut a hood to make the shape of that C6R skull. I wonder how practical for cooling he would be.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but as mine sits now, it probably would do better to emulate the terminator skull.

you better put some louvers on there, or you may ingest more air than you evacuate......

I just lifted the stock hood and put in on the ceiling of the garage... I'm pretty sure that I saved more than 5 lbs.... maybe as much as 20, but probably 15 or so. I guess that sound dampener material weighs alot.

Here's my gameface for next season. Stickers on both headlights, and a smiley face on the hood. Should be worth 10 hp or so.

I'm posting tonight so I remember to post my picture of my wicked pumpkin. Halloween night, 6 cans of spray paint, a piece of crap, and a event to run the next day. I don't drink much but this was one of my highlights. The best part about it, I owned the car for a day and got 2nd overall place in the event the next day(dirty-jack-ol rally-x).
