Default Where to get tach signal...

I just installed a Traqmate system in my car. It allows me to have various inputs from the cars mechanicals, so I need help with where to tap in for these inputs.

Where is the easiest place to tap into to get a tach signal? Brake pedal, and throttle position are a couple more. Steering angle?

Thanks!

Hi Jody,

In lieu of previous experience, I would check the circuit diagrams and see where all of the signals go into the PCM. You should be able to find a spot to tap in if you follow the wiring.

I have a ecu pinout sheet somewhere. I made one so I didn't have to remember all the pins. Now I just have to find it

Jody,
Did you get it figured out??? I can look in my books and figure it out again. I have been looking all over the place for my cheat sheet.

For some of us looking at circuit diagrams is like a dog watching TV..... I figure if he just drills into the top of the PCM he has a good chance of it working....

Falcon - will it have real time readouts in the car?

Yep, that's exactly what it's like when I have a wiring diagram in my hand, a dog watching the TV or a cat with library card.

On the in car display you can make about anything show up. But that's not what you necessarily want. It logs data for later analysis, It records segment times, G's, and pretty much anything else that would be pertinent. It can accept 5 other inputs (2 digital and 2 analog). those could be RPM, Oil Pressure, Throttle position, Brake position, Steering angle, etc.

The best feature is the predictive lap. It compares your current lap to the best lap you've had that point and displays that both numerically and graphically. That would be invaluable in qualifying or time trials.

Randy, if you get a chance sometime, I'd appreciate the ECU/PCM printout, that'd allow me to get some signals other than tach.

Jeffro, here is the virtual dashboard of a partial lap. The data logger has recorded all the information and the video program synchs right up with the data. I had no inputs into the logger, what you see is only what it gets from GPS and accelerometers. If I had had the tack signal connected it would have displayed that along with anything else it captured.

The brake signal on the virtual dash uses any negative deceleration as braking. If I lift or feather the throttle any, the red light comes on.

Giddy Up!
