Default steering rack

Dumb question of the night. If my steering rack is going bad, how would I know? My car is making a clicking sound when I turn the wheel. Not sure what else it could be. Outside of the noise, everything feels fine from the driver's seat.

Loss of fluid is one symptom as fluid seeps past worn seals.

All turns or just sharp or "U" turns? If the latter ... any chance that the noise is coming from the diff ... chatter meaning additive needed?

A groaning noise when cold is also indication of a rack going bad. It's called "morning sickness"

Also look for signs of leaks at the boots at either end of the rack.

can't be the diff. happens when the car isn't moving at all. No groaning sounds or leaks, just whenever i turn the wheel it get "click, click, click, click"

sway-bar end links or bad bushings are my next guess both of which i want to replace anyways, need to make some time to get under the car this weekend.
