Well, that does it. My next Corvette will have a lego engine in it. Wow, that must have taken a few hours to put together. The V8, that is, the V6 looked a bit more simple.

Back in the late 90's LEGO released a product called the Mindstorms
Robotics Invention kit. It was based on a programmable computer
/controller (the RCX Brick) and it came with a couple of motors
and three sensors.

Although it was interesting, in my opinion it had some limitations
and I could never bring myself to make the plunge and buy one.
The real geeks in the LEGO community eventually overcame many of
the limitations of Mindstorms and produced some very innovative
results,

Then when Microsoft released WinXP there were compatibility issues
for the Mindstorms development environment (which was founded on
the the Win95/98/NT operating system.) Although the geeks found
a work-around, LEGO withdrew the Mindstorms product.

Now after a number of years to regroup, LEGO is back with
Mindstorms NXT. It happens that Mrs Claus has arranged for an NXT
set to land under a tree near me, so I have been exploring the world
of LEGO lately in anticipation of tinkering on some family projects in
the very near future.

I don't know if the Slalom4me LEGO develoment team will succeed in
creating its inaugural project: a robot dog that can vacuum the house
and put toys away, but it will be fun trying. (I've been looking to find
out where those engine components came from, too.)
